    <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Sen. Arlen Specter has accused the NFL and the Philadelphia Eagles of treating Terrell Owens unfairly, and might refer the matter to the antitrust subcommittee of the Senate Judiciary Committee.</div>

    <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>"I am madder than hell at what he has done in ruining the Eagles' season," the Pennsylvania Republican said. "I think he's in flagrant breach of his contract and I believe the Eagles would be within their rights in not paying him another dime or perhaps even suing him for damages."

    But Specter said, "I do not believe, personally, that it is appropriate to punish him (by forcing him to sit out the rest of the season). He's not committed a crime, he's committed a breach of contract. And what they're doing against him is vindictive."
    </div>

    I think Specter should talk to the NFLPA, not the Eagles. I'm sure the Eagles would love to suspend his pay for the rest of the season and/or sue him.

    That last paragraph is kind of funny. He thinks the Eagles should not pay him, sue him, but let him play. I wonder how Specter thinks TO would perform on the field without a paycheck. [IMG]

    This is one example of why I hate all politicians, Repulican and Democrat. They are all self-serving idiots. Spector hasn't offered anything of any value with his stupid comment, but he did get his name in the paper. Is Spector saying that Turd Orifice has a right to play in the NFL? If that's the case, how has baseball banned Pete Rose?

    I agree, except the Rose comparison, he did commit a crime

    According to TO & Rosenhaus, Terrell barely gets paid now. So, what difference does it make? [IMG]

    Can't a team suspend a player for simply violating a team rule? Does anyone here doubt that TO violated at least an implied team rule?

    Specter doesn't know what he is talking about. If TO is in breach of contract, then the Eagles have the right to do whatever they want in response as long as it is in the rules. Last I looked, a team is not forced to play any player unless it is some little childrens league where they want to make sure everyone feels included.
