I read on another board that ESPN reported that the Bulls are in conversation with the Hornets to acquire PJ Brown and JR Smith for Malik Allen and Tyson Chandler. I don't know how accurate this is, so don't get on me if it's not accurate. I'll look for confirmation.

This tells me that Ben Wallace could be signing with the Bulls.

I’ve been a fan of PJ Brown for a long time. The way he goes about his business is nothing short of amazing. He is the constant professional in everything he does. He has been a double double guy for a long time as well. He had some injuries this past season, but is still solid. He would also provide us with some veteran leadership. JR Smith on the other hand does not seem like a Scott Skiles type player. He does not handle criticism well, don't expect Skiles to be the kind of coach to pat you on the back when you mess up, if he can’t play for Byron Scott he will struggle playing for Skiles. I also don’t know how willing he is to backup Gordon. Paxson has already noted Gordon will be the starting shooting guard next year. Smith wanted to get traded in part for more playing time. With Gordon, Hinrich, Sefolosha, Duhon, and Smith we might have a log jam in the back court.

PJ would be a nice fit. He can basically give you what AD gave us, plus some more on the statsheet.

But yes, this creates a logjam in the backcourt. I'm willing to take that if we can sign Wallace.

I'd look for you guys to ship out one of your guards, maybe Duhon, if this deal goes through.

If this deal goes down, I'd think we'd have to trade one of our guards. There's no way we can have that much of a logjam at the guard spot. I realize it gives us depth, but there'd be a lot of complaining about lack of PT throughout the season. The other option would be to use Selfolosha or Smith as a 3 and have one of them back up Deng and use Noc as the backup PF. Regardless, I would love to see PJ in a Bulls uni. The man is a workhorse. He gives a consistent double-double and always has. If he comes in, he'll be a great mentor to Tyrus Thomas.

I like this deal a lot for the Bulls. PJ Brown is exactly what they need with Shaq playing in the East. He also buys time for Tyrus Thomas to develop without as much pressure to come right in and produce. Having PJ Brown for a season (maybe more) to mentor Tyrus would be outstanding for his development.

I'm not a big JR Smith fan, but maybe a change of scenery is all he needs. Hopefully he learned all about humility after his wasted season last year and public feuding with Byron Scott.

Now going after Big Ben would make more sense for the Bulls. They'd be committed to winning now, and with the NBA wide open, I think they have a chance to make it to the Finals.

Detroit won't be the same without Big Ben, so there's one obstacle out of the picture. The Bulls matchup with the defending champs now with two of the best front court defenders.

If JR Smith isnt a Skiles guy, why should we trade a Skiles guy (Duhon for example) to keep someone on the roster who is going to be a distraction.

Trade for Brown and Smith and then trade Smith again.

I wouldn't mind P.J. Brown at all. But, I agree with most of you guys... J.R. Smith wouldn't want to play for Skiles. And he's just going to complain coming of the bench. Not sure what they would do after this deal, if it happens.

Why do the Hornets do this? They don't need Chandler and his fat contract with Armstrong, Simmons and West in the paint. They could get better for PJ Brown. Though Duhon would be nice for them, it's not worth taking Chandler back.

I dont like this deal...who plays center for us?
If we actually get Wallace then this deal is ok. But if we dont it just seems weird....

I only see us doing this deal if we get a verbal commitment from Ben Wallace before hand.

It better be more than a verbal commitment. [IMG]

It should be a stipulation, if we do this trade, you are signing with the Chicago Bulls and no one else.

P.J Brown is listed as a Center, at 6'11, 239lbs.

If you cant aquire Ben Wallace, it seems as though you're going after Joel Pryzbilla, which would be handy addition.

Having Brown and Wallace/Pryzbilla would shore up the team need for the season.

The 4 is his natural position though...

However, I believe that Mike Sweetney was getting minutes there during the latter part of last season. And like some other people stated, PJ Brown is a capable center. He's got the size and strength to do so. And again, we probalby won't pull the trigger on this unless we get Wallace.

I would Let Duhon go to simply Unload Tysons Contract on somone else. Duhon is great but:

    He's another small guard.
We can be successful without him.
    The more capspace the better.

With our young guys getting better our cap space is gonna be Key to staying competetive for a long time.

I love you Duhon but if you gotta go......... HEY[IMG]

I would do this deal With Pryz. Ben is cool BUt hes not getting younger. His production dropped off last year. His freethrow misses WILL become a liability during the postseason.

I actually like Taking Pryz Hes younger and will be less of a strain on our Salary cap. Hes a decent defender and shot blocker.

Dont get me wrong, if the bulls sign Wallace i wont be mad. I Would be happier if the signed both or just Pryz. Either way I want Tyson out of chicago.
