If this deal went through and we got big ben.
Think of the mentoring to tyrus. Both ben and PJ brown...thats like future defensive first team for tyrus in the future

we really dont need JR Smith, who knows whattype of PT he would get with Gordon and Thabo and whoever else on the team plays SG. But I like the idea of Brown, the mentoring could have nice results on Tyrus

The Bulls also have explored Chandler trade scenarios with the Hawks (via an Al Harrington sign-and-trade) and the Warriors. </div>

If we do get Smith I'm willing to bet he'll be traded somewhere else in a package deal. Someone will get traded if we do get Smith and it's not going to be Gordon or Hinrich. There will be some team out there willing to take the Guard potential off our hands.

According to ESPN SportsCenter, this trade might be close to being done. As I said earlier, I'd love it. And now that we got Big Ben, it really opens the gates for it. From what I heard, the only way the trade goes down is if we get him, well, now we have him, so hopefully they find a way to get it to work.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">ESPN.com - ESPN's Marc Stein is reporting that the Bulls were very close to completing a trade that will send Tyson Chandler to the New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets for P.J. Brown and J.R. Smith.

The trade will be the latest in a barrage of moves by the Hornets, which include acquiring Bobby Jackson and Peja Stojakovic.

With Chandler, the Hornets will solidify their frontcourt and see the veteran Chandler pair up with David West with newly drafted rookies Hilton Armstrong and Cedric Simmons backing them up.

The Bulls will add more depth adding the aging veteran Brown and up-and-comer J.R. Smith to the fold. [READ]</div>

Were? So is it not going to happen anymore?

If this did happen, what are we going to do with Smith? Skiles is a tougher coach than Scott. Not sure how much playing time he's going to get.

I think one thing he really needs is a change in scenery. I think that alone will help him. Plus, he saw what happened to Tim Thomas last season, and if he doesn't want that to happen to him, he best listen to Skiles. Byron Scott just had him in the doghouse last year, Skiles will do that and isn't afraid to kick him completely off the team. I think JR would be just fine because of that.

But, he'd have to fit in somewhere here:
    Gordon/ Sefolosha/Duhon/Hinrich/Smith

All those guys play would play SG atleast a couple of minutes during the game... Gordon would play the most and then probably Sefolosha or Smith... So do you think he would take over Sefolosha? If we do get him, we'll have to see, since I haven't seen Sefolosha play yet. If we do get him, if he listens I think he'll do well.

Sefolosha is going to get more minutes than Smith in Chicago simply, because he is not a defensive liability. Skiles does not put anyone who can’t defend on the court (i.e. Tim Thomas). Unless JR Smith significantly improves his defense he will not be here long. I see Smith taking a similar role to that which Frank Williams had when he was traded here from New York. He might be used for instant offense off the bench, but will never see consistent minutes until he makes it a point to improve his defense. If this trade goes down Smith needs to come here humble, and ready to work to get in the rotation. At this point I don’t want to see us trade Duhon (a better ball handler, defender, and leader) to open up a spot in the rotation for Smith (unproven, all about himself, and shaky jumper).
