http://www.mercurynews.com/mld/mercurynews...ts/14954410.htm Says we're offering around $52 million over 4 years to Ben. But the Piston's offered $48 over 4 years. I bet thats all the Pistons are willing to go. However what do you guys think? Is Ben worth $13 mil a year? Personally I'm am fine with this as long as Chandler goes. If you think about it Chandler gets $8-10 million a year? Add another $3 mil and we got ourselves an All-star and DPOY. I wonder if our offer is enough. Lets hope so.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Pistons' Initial Offer Irks Wallace 3rd July, 2006 - 8:27 am Detroit News - Ben Wallace isn't happy with the Pistons initial offer, the Detroit News is reporting. "It was disappointing," he said. "It was not at all what I expected." The Pistons' initial offer was a four-year deal starting at $11.5 million and would pay him $49.6 million over four years. It would make Wallace the highest-paid player on the team next season, eclipsing Rasheed Wallace's salary by $100,000. Pistons president Joe Dumars, reached by e-mail, said he didn't want to negotiate through the newspaper and declined comment. "No, the door's not closed (on the Pistons)," Wallace added. "I know it's a business and they have to run their business." Wallace met with Chicago Bulls general manager John Paxson and coach Scott Skiles in Detroit on Saturday. He characterized the meeting as "real good" but added that no official offer was extended. Reports of the Bulls offering a contract starting at $13 million or $14 million were overstated, as were reports of the Bulls offering a five-year deal. "I ain't looking for more than four years," said Wallace. Wallace said he expects to hear from several other teams, including Washington, New York and Cleveland, as early as today. Since all three are over the cap, a sign and trade would be necessary if Wallace was to leave Detroit. [READ]</div> Source
I hope we don’t have to up the offer past 60 million. If we get Ben at that price it’s a bargain in my opinion. Consider this, we get Wallace at that price, then trade Chandler and his 60 million dollar contract for some expiring ones we are technically saving money.
I guess this is kind of good news for bulls fans. Its seems like hes trying to put preassure on the pistons. I dont think he wants to leave but he will if they dont pay. I dont see him playing for NY. BUt Cleveland and wahington may be suiters. I think we can out bid both of those teams.
I like the fact that we're looking to snag him right now, early in the FA signing period, but I hope we don't get in over our heads. Hopefully Pax and co. are on the phone looking for potential deals to take Tyson off our hands, cause I don't want to sign Big Ben and not have a suitor for Tyson. A $20mil a year, no offense frontcourt is the last thing we need in Chicago.
I am drooling over this lineup for us next year. C: Big Ben PF: Thomas SF: Deng/Noicioni SG: Gordon PG: Hinrich
