DJ Mbenga is a 2nd string center, not a third stringer, put him on any other team and he'd be playing much more. I really like this guy an dhe' syoung, Im sure he's a project the Mavs dont want to let go.

Yeah I agree with you. dampier is getting old, and once he's retired and outta Dallas, I'd expect a Diop/Mbenga tag team like that of Damp and diop.
He's a good defensive player, and like you said, young. Much like A taller and better built Diop.

Mbenga has good instincts, he just needs to keep learning the game and not fall for every pump fake. I am definitely happy that the Mavs resigned him. So far, the Mavericks have really done well this offseason IMO.

He shows hustle and intensity, but he`s still a project IMO.

For what it is worth: MBenga had 13 points and 14 rebounds for the Belgian NT in a win over Israel. He had 8 points in a first meeting between both teams.

Exhibition is over, yesterday it was the first qualification game for the European Championship. Belgium lost to Czech Republic (Jri Welsh 31p). Didier "DJ" MBenga was awful, he had 0 pts (0/6) and 3 reb in 21 min. Disappointing performance, certainly because this is an environment where he could be more than a role player. But he clearly is and always will be a role player.

    Small update:
Belgium surprised by defeating Russia with 91-80. Didier MBenga played very well this time and finished with 16 points, 11 rebounds and 5 blocks.
