<div class="quote_poster">Quoting kobe23:</div><div class="quote_post">id be nervous if i were you! hahaha coz b.wallace only propspered coz of the other pistons... let's see if he really is taht good with worse teammates</div> Hmmm... Its hard to take your opinion seriously when you type like a 2nd grader. I think we'll be "ok." Your "opinion" aside.
Now with Chandler going to the Hornets soon, I see the logic of the move. I thought the Bulls were keeping both of them, but if they can get P.J. Brown's expiring contract and a young cheap talent in J.R. Smith, this would be a great move. So far the Bulls are the true winners this offseason.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting michiganave17:</div><div class="quote_post">For all that say that Tyson is just as good as Ben you dont have a full understanding of the game. There is more to ball then stats and physica ability. You guys have forgotten about the mental game. Lets be Serious here....... Tyson is a laughing stock of the league. Hes been in the league 5 years and only managed to gain 10 pounds on a 7'1 frame. He makes all of this cash for little output. Then you have ben. Whos presence make people think twice about driving to the basket. people drive on tyson like hes not ther because hes being boxed out by stronger guys. Your not boxing out Ben easily so hes always roaming about the basket. Just the presence of ben makes the bulls a far greater team. People say that Bens numbers dropped. Well the style of play that the pistons played last year didnt allow ben to fully showcase his ability. When a team is running and gunning is hard to grab boards under the basket because they are mostly long rebounds. But I hope we dump tyson quickly so we can go after pryzbilla too. Wallace/pryz Thomas/Brown Noch/deng Gordon/thabo Hinrich/Duhon I like that depth</div> I liked where you were originally heading with the opening paragraph. More to than the mental game however, is the "respect" given to Wallace. Wallace gets away with stuff Chandler could only dream of. And thats because Wallace gets "respect" from the officals and Chandler doesn't. Like it or not, this helps us in the officiating aspect of the game. Another thing that routinely gets ignored is the reason for Chandler's lack of development. Under Cartwright (who was a horrible coach), Chandler actually developed a baby hook and a decent J from about 12' out. That has not been seen under the Skiles Administration. Why is that? And whether or not you like Chandler is irrelevant. He saved some games for us last year with his length/athleticism on the boards/blocking shots/altering shots. He regressed last year, admittedly. But he is only 23. And we are talking about dumping him. Paxson pulls off a good move only to pull off a dump move. This gets old. You don't win championships by continuing to make "salary dump" moves. Consolidate assets, I am fine with. Package Chandler, picks, players for something. Not Chandler for salary dump. That's not how you win Championships.

Its what Paxson seemingly is good at (unfortunately). I was all for the dumping of Rose' contract as well as Crawford's. Curry's was understandable. But Paxson is making a living off of it. And to what avail? Where are we headed? Name a team that won a ring based off continual salary dump trades. You win by drafting well (which Paxson has done), good FA signings (which Paxson has done), and making smart trades (which Paxson has only shown an ability to dump contracts).
PJ Brown is one of the most respectable big men in the league, because of hard work and consistency. He can give you 10 and 8 next year, I wouldn't complain about that. He'll be your top scoring big man. You need a low post scorer, and Brown can be that.
I'm one of those people who still believe that the Bulls paid Ben too much......if they're gonna win a title, they better do it in the next 2 seasons.....Detroit's still talented and they have money to spend, Miami will be back, the Lebrons will be better, etc.........it will be interesting to see how things play out in the East next season.

Not to mention, Brown turns 37 this year. Unless we are contending for a title this year (with Gordon, Hinrich, Thomas, Deng, Nocino far from entering their prime), Brown is really of no value. He would be gone after this year. Chandler would grow with the team. Wallace still has 4 years left, and the team will be hitting its stride 2-3 years. Long after Brown has departed. Furthermore, when Wallace does leave, we'd have Chandler entering his prime with the rest of the core. Again. Where am I supposed to be thrilled with this trade? Its a salary dump. That's all it is.
Vintage, I agree with a lot of the things you're saying. However, do you really want a frontline that's costing us around $20mil a year on a pair of long term contracts, killing all cap flexibility in the years to come? Beyond that, the frontline offense would be atrocious. To top that, where does Tyrus Thomas than come in? With the frontcourt seemingly set for nearly half a decade, where does Thomas come in? You can't start him over Deng, cause that hurts his development. Neither Wallace or Chandler's contracts would be expiring anytime soon, so he wouldn't be starting either of those spots any time soon. So, by dumping Chandler's contract, that really sets up Tyrus starting for the '07 season. All in all, I see this as more of a contract dumping move. They strengthen their frontcourt by bringing in PJ. He's good on defense and will give us a low post scorer. They dump a huge Tyson contract and give us cap flexibility once again next offseason. This also brings in a young swingman who can hopefully learn something under Skiles and maybe will prosper here. With this move, it also helps Tyrus' development and will move him into a starting role (which he'll hopefully be ready for and assuming they don't bring back PJ) after this upcoming season. I think the deal works as much more than a salary dump after you really think about it.
