I hated our second round selections, but i am really starting to like the foye pick. So i'd give us a B.

I think they get a B- because Brandon Roy is going to be a stud and they will regret letting him go.

Randy Foye is a good pick but I think they could have done a little better.

I give them a B as everyone knows Randy Foye is my boy, and I loved that pick. However, they made a huge mistake in trading away Bobby Jones for virtually nothing after they drafted him in the second round. He would really have helped the Wolves defense improve tremendously. I liked the Craig Smith pick though. I remember watching him when I saw the Villanova/BC game. He was pretty over powering, granted he was going against a four guard defense, he is still pretty well built. if you give him a few more inches he would be a first round pick. I see him as a Corliss Williamson type.

How does everybody say that? Roy will be a stud but the T'Wolves need a point guard and Roy isn't a true point guard. Foye played a lot of point guard in college making him more likely to step in and play the point in the pros. They already have McCants at the two so why pick Roy.

I'll give them a B. They had a great pick in Foye but the second round picks were just plain bad...

^^and its not like we let roy go, we wanted foye, but made the trade to get some money. if portland didnt want roy, we would have jmust picked foye anyway. And i dont see roy being better than foye. foye with KG mccants and hassell is going to be deadly. Hassell has already been helping mccants with his defense, so hopefully he does the same with foye and we get a killer defenseive line.

Relying on a rookie to be part of your teams success can only translute into bad things.

Don't tell that to LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Tim Duncan, etc. etc.

Anyway, I wanted to pop into this thread to post a link to JBB's Western Confernce Draft Grades -

Most of the discussion thus far has actually been geared towards the Wolves.

If you think Foye is the next Lebron James or Dwayne Wade... I stand corrected.

However, as much as I would love to get my hopes up, were talking about a very weak line up... Hopeing that Foye will be an instant success and that Garnett and McCants can carry a very "high potiental, no gaurentee" team is to much to set high hopes on.

But like I said, if Foye is the next Wade or Lebron, may I stand corrected. IF...

p.s. I can not stress the amount of sarcasm I am trying to portray in my first and last statement.

Very much so. Sad to see him slide right past us. Is that a knock on Foye, no, but Kevin McHale has been known to "f" up a few things before. Could this be another?

I'm sort of puzzled by Kevin McKale on the Rudy G thing. Maybe having Ndudi Ebi scared him off. Also with Ricky Davis... Brandon Roy might have been a safer bet if the Wolves still don't have a pure lead guard anyway. Roy is a prototype two. I guess Foye does have more upside though... I'm still confused if the wolves are rebuilding or contending. If rebuilding, Gay or Foye, but contending, I think Brandon Roy made better sense.

^^ i think we are trying to do both. We want to rebuild while being competitive enough to contend for a title, or bed one move away. maybe next year will be the year we go for it.

C: Mark Blount
PF: Kevin Garnett
SF: Ricky Davis
SG: Brandon Roy
PG: Troy Hudson or Jaric or whoever we want to stick here.

But I guess this lineup is okay as well (on paper)

C: Mark Blount
PF: Kevin Garnett
SF: Ricky Davis
SG: Mako Jaric/Hassell
PG: Randy Foye

Have the Wolves tried starting Eddie Griffin at PF and let KG play SF?

KG used to play sf, but those days are over. Eddie G just isnt that good. management recently talked to him, and told him that if he messes up again, he is done. i think that Taylor even said he would buy out his contract. and marko wont start over hassell ever.

i like the foye pick now, and before i hated it. he has done great in summer league (which i knoe doesnt mean much, but he is scoring almost 30 ppg).
