sun yue didnt get drafted, and he is a 6-7 player who can play the point. the guy has a nice stroke and is extremely athletic and versatile. if it is possible, we should definitely get him on our SPL team. he is a perfect fit for the triangle
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting DynastYWarrioR6:</div><div class="quote_post">I agree for all those reasons and the fact that I got to get the man to rep us fellow chinese people</div> that's right. we should definitely make a run to sign him on our SPL team. even if he doesnt make our roster, it wouldnt hurt. the least he could do is boost up the attendance in the summer league games
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting thedude9990:</div><div class="quote_post">didnt he back out of the draft</div> no, that was yi jianlian
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Brian:</div><div class="quote_post">no, that was yi jianlian</div> Man....if only we could have had a shot at Yi Jianlian......
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Brian:</div><div class="quote_post">no, that was yi jianlian</div> me you..lets start a rally lol bring Sun to our summer league team...I mean come on we invite him..the WORST thing that could happen is he plays and does nothing...now look at the other end of the spectrum..he plays and WOWs people..now we wont regret passing up on him eh? plus he can play like 2-3 positions..(not sure bout his strength at the SF)
Wow, nice find VC. Brian, amazing call! However, as of right now, I'm not fond of the pick...and especially that he'll be over in China for another year. Nice call, none the less.

It was an interesting article that said something about how Yi was originally born with another name, but that person mysteriously "fled" the country, right about the time Yi's family surfaced saying they had forgotten to register their son at his birth. I have no idea whatever happened to that article, or how legitimate it was, but I would love to read that again. I actually saw a lot of tinyballer's posts in my search. The guy's pretty much a Chinese basketball expert. Got any thoughts on Yue, tb?

I know there was also a question mark about Yi's age, there was a 4 year disparity with it.
I'm confused with the Sun Yue pick as well. We currently have 3 young point guards on the roster, all of whom being "project" players. We should have used the pick on an NBA ready player like Derrick Byars, who I believe was still available. I wasn't too fond of this draft at all
There shouldn't be any obstacle in getting Sun Yue to play for the Lakers this season. His team, Beijing Aoshen, doesn't have any affiliation with the CBA, being the only privately owned professional team in China. They've actually been banned from the CBA and have been playing in the ABA the past two seasons. They were the ones who gave Sun the green light to declare for the draft and therefore they don't stand as obstacles. I haven't read the exact Mitch quote but he might be referring to the summer league roster, given that Sun will be with the Chinese National team in July.
I just Googled some pics of Sun Yue, and man, this guy really needs to bulk up if he wants to amount to anything in this league. ^ He's as skinny as a 10 year old in this pic
That's from almost two years ago. Search his name on Youtube. There are some workout videos from the Wizards that show his current size. He's bulked up a bit.
