<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Austin Croshere's career with the Indiana Pacers appears to be over. The Pacers have agreed to trade Croshere to the Dallas Mavericks for guard Marquis Daniels, according to people with knowledge of the situation. The deal can't become official until July 12 when teams can complete trades and free agent signings. Croshere was the longest-tenured Pacer, spending nine seasons with the team. He became expandable with the addition of draftee Shawne Williams and with the Pacers trying to become more athletic. Croshere is also entering the final year of his contract. He averaged 7.5 points and 4.3 rebounds during his career with the Pacers</div> Full Story
Don't like the trade. Now i have to change my sig. I cant help but think that we could have gotten more for Daniels than some aging backup SF-PF. He does replace Van Horn but i was hoping to get something else.
I cmpeltely agree with you. It's already hard enough to part with Maruis Daniels and non blood brother of Josh Howard. But then you trade him for an aging PF. Im really dissapointed this trade.
I agree, the Mavs probably could have gotten back more in the deal. Austin Croshere likely means KVH won't be back, and I guess Mo Ager will eventually replace Daniels. Indiana is slowly stockpiling a lot of athletic talent with James White, Danny Granger, Marquis Daniels, Shawne Williams, and likely bringing back Fred Jones. I figured Daniels would eventually be traded, he became the odd man out once Dallas re-signed Jason Terry, and their commitment to eventually start Devin Harris.
I think the Croshere signing is for contract purposes. I don't see the basketball relation in this move for Dallas, just the money one. Daniels needed to be traded though, there really wasn't PT for him on the team. Croshere does similar things to KVH like others have mentioned, so he doesn't give them much. I like it for Indiana though, they get another young backcourt guy, and Granger will probably be starting next year, so he can backup up SJax and Granger at the 2 and 3.
It's probably because of salary. But if you don't take that to count, I don't really like this trade for the Mavs at all. Could have gotten more.
trust me cro will have moments that will make you want to make him your starter then he will go on one of his 0 for 6 days and you'll curse the living **** outta him but no matter what he will remain an utter pro and will help all the youngins by settting an example. don't be suprised if you start liking him a few games in.
Well this move, free's up a lot of cap space for Mavs i believe at the end of the season since Croshere is an expiring. This could also mean, the Pacers are trying to deal Stephen Jackson else where. Good trade for both teams IMO.

Croshere is an upgrade over Keith van horn for sure. He seems to hit 3s when the team most needs them, unlike KVH who seems to miss when he's most needed. Croshere is more of a banger too. Croshere actually has a pretty decent contract, he's making more than Daniels next year, although he is in the last year of that contract.
just when i was about to buy a mavs daniels jersey...anyway marquis is gonna get playing time and tear it up in indiana, but i am sad that him and josh howard are broken up, they would have been awesome together...
one of the worst deals ive ever heard of, true they don't really have a backup for dirk, but letting Marquis Daniels (who is only going to get better and better as the years go one)....we don't even know how many years Auston Croshere has left in the tank
