<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">A source tells us that Williams is expected to sign with the Philadelphia 76ers tomorrow. Apparently, Williams was supposed to sign with the New Jersey Nets last week, but on draft night, while aboard the Nets private jet, he had the misfortune of watching Connecticut?s Marcus Williams ? arguably the highest-rated point guard in the draft ? slide all the way down to 22, where New Jersey snatched him to back up Jason Kidd. Williams had a strong workout with his hometown Nets, and you could tell he wanted to play there. But Philadelphia won?t be far from his family, and even if Allen Iverson doesn?t get dealt ? we keep hearing he won?t ? Williams has a very good chance to become the No. 2 point guard in Philly when the season begins. </div> link: http://thebiglead.com/?p=611
I loved Jay during his time in Chicago. I believe he had a triple double in his first game in the league. Jay Williams is a great true point guard, and if we trade AI he is my number one option to step into the starting point guard role. Jay lost a little bit because of the accident his speed is not what it use to be, but his fundamentals have improved. Scouts who saw him workout with the number one ranked point guard in this years draft class, Marcus Williams, say he looked just as much like the number two overall pick he was.
I hope we won't end up regretting the Nets' draft pick. I'm a huge Jay Williams fan, I can't wait to see him back in action.
I liked what he started doing when the end of the season was coming in Chicago. Then he goes out and gets himself injured. I'll be interested to see how he does when he comes back.
Good signing for the Sixers, hopefully AI will stay. The bench gets stronger with this, Jay Williams I hope can return to some of his old form. i remember when the accident happened, people in this forum were like criticizing about his motorcycle accident. He was such a good player, but I don't think he got a triple double his first game (could be wrong, I was a J-Craw fan), he did get one against Kidd and the Nets, I will never forget that, a good game. I'm still hoping the Sixers can win a championship with this team...in reality all I want is Webber to win a championship, so AI and King get it done.

What was the actual extent of his injury again? Like is he expected to make a full recovery? Or will this incident affect his return. Good pick up for the 76ers if so.
Haven't heard anything offical about this, nor did HoopsHype even report it as a rumor which is rare because they report pretty much anything. I'm hoping it's true but at the same time Billy King has to make some more moves, even if that doesn't include trading Iverson.

Hoopshype did report this as a rumor, and I showed it to CK the day it was out. But I am still waiting on official word as well. I would be happy with a Jay-Will signing though, because I don't think an injury can keep a good basketball player from being good. AS long as Williams is healthy he can definitely contribute.
Wow. Good for Jay that he's back in the league, and it's a solid pickup for the Sixers. That's gonna be a deadly fastbreak with Jay, Iggy and Carney on the Wings, and Korver trailing as a shooter. He'll also help defensively as well.
Hmm, I like. I like his game, his speed is no where near it was before. But he came from a good program in college and he's a very smart player. So hopefully he can contribute without NEEDING to get a first step on a guy. I think this signing will be a sleeper. I got a good feeling about Jay, he might and hopefully be that comeback player of the year everyone talks about.

I got an update for you guys... it's not 100% guaranteed he will sign with us. Philadelphia is #1 on his list, but he is waiting to see what happens with Iverson and/or Ollie. He wants to go to a team where he will have a decent role, instead of just sitting on the bench. He's still talking to other teams as well, but has been saying that Philly is his #1 choice and he has no problem waiting until the end of the offseason so that both he and the team can re-evaluate the situation.
