Maybe Darvin figures he won't get much playing time once the season rolls around, and he wants some action. Haha

Magic lose game one of Pepsi Summer League to the Nets, 86-82.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">After a four and a half hour wait, the Orlando Magic kicked off their 2006 Summer League by scoring the game’s first points against New Jersey. However, the Nets outlasted the Magic in the long run, 86-82 - in a back-and-fourth battle to wrap up the inaugural day of the 2006 Pepsi Pro Summer League.

The Nets' Marcus Williams led all scorers with 24 points on an impressive 9-for-15 (.600) shooting mark while also dishing out 12 assists, which marked the only double-double of the day’s action.

New Jersey took the early lead, holding a 22-17 advantage after the first quarter, with the Nets shooting an 9-for-13 (.692) in that frame.

Travis Diener came out strong in the second quarter, scoring 10 of his 12 first half points including two three-pointers, which cut the deficit to two at halftime at 41-43. Erik Daniels also played an inspired second quarter, coming off the bench and scoring five, while also chipping in two rebounds and two steals.

Trailing 65-67 entering the final quarter, Marcin Gortat brought the entire Magic bench to their feet with a thunderous dunk over three Nets players to knot the score at 67. The teams continued to trade baskets with the Magic leading 76-75 with 3:22 to play.

With the Magic clutching an 80-79 lead, Williams knocked down a three with 47 seconds left to spark the a 7-2 run for the Nets that sealed the victory. Overall, the Nets shot 54.4% (31-for-57), including 54.5% (6-for-11) from behind the arc while the Magic shot 43.2% (32-for-74) from the field. Gortat’s 15 points led the Magic, with four others reaching double figures (Diener – 14, Rich Melzer, Matt Walsh, Alpha Bangura – 10). Second round Draft pick James Augustine played almost 20 minutes, scoring four points on 2-of-3 shooting. </div>

    Magic beat Pacers 80-79.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Rebounding from an opening game loss last night in the 2006 Pepsi Pro Summer League, the Orlando Magic evened their record at 1-1 on this summer season with an 80-79 victory over the Indiana Pacers.

After the Magic built an 18-9 advantage a little more than midway through the first quarter, the Pacers responded with a 16-4 run of their own to lead by a score of 25-22 after the opening stanza.

The second quarter opened with Indiana continuing their strong surge, opening as much as a 10-point lead halfway through. Danny Granger displayed his leadership for the Pacers, carrying them with 17 points in the first half, 10 of which came in the second including a three-pointer with 14 second left to take his Pacers into the locker room with a 46-43 lead.

The third quarter continued to go back and fourth, which made for a very interesting finale. With 50 seconds remaining and the Magic leading 78-76, the Pacers inbounded the ball, passed the ball around the perimeter and dished to an open Boo Davis who hit a three with 40 seconds left. On the Magic’s next trip down the floor, Darvin Ham then put up an eight-foot jumper which rattled out, but Marcin Gortat was there to tip it in to put the Magic back up by one with 24 seconds left. In what appeared to be an instant replay, Indiana passed the ball around the perimeter, found an open Davis on the wing yet again, except this time his three-point field goal failed to catch the rim and went out of bounds with 0.3 seconds left to seal the victory for the Magic.

The Magic had a very balanced attack the entire game, getting contributions from everyone as all 10 members that recorded minutes, also tallied points. On the other hand, Indiana was led by four players in double figures, Granger leading the way with 23, but got little contributions other than Granger, James White (16), Boo Davis (13), and Damone Brown (12).

Travis Diener finished the game pacing the Magic with 20 points, seven of which came in the third. Gortat also provided big minutes, grabbing eight boards to go with 15 points. James Augustine helped the Magic dominate the rebounding category all game, as the contest finished with Orlando holding a 35-16 advantage on the glass. Augustine rebounded from last night’s three-rebound game reaching double digits in boards with 10, seven in the first quarter alone. </div>

I caught some of it. But it kept skipping so I wasn't watching it much.

Diener seemed to want to score.. He was driving to the basket. Augustine looks great out there. I am gonna enjoy him playing for the Magic.

Today, the Magic got crushed by the Bobcats, 103-87.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The Charlotte Bobcats kept their perfect record intact on day three of the 2006 Pepsi Pro Summer League, topping the Orlando Magic 103-87 behind Adam Morrison and Sean May’s combined 40 points. Morrison notched his second 20+-point performance in as many days, pouring in 24 in almost 26 minutes of play, while May chipped in 16.

The Magic, who were down by as many as 19 early in the third, went on a 16-2 run midway through the quarter fueled by eight points from Erik Daniels to cut the Charlotte advantage to as little as five, 66-61, on a Matt Walsh three-pointer with 3:07 left in the period. But the Bobcats responded, extending their lead back into double digits, 77-62, to finish off the third frame. The Bobcats kept their 10+-point margin throughout the fourth as well, giving Charlotte their second double-digit victory this week.

The Magic kept it close early, but after scoring only one point in the last 2:36 of the first quarter, the Bobcats broke open their lead to 12, 29-17, by the end of the period. Adam Morrison hit 3-of-10 shots in the first half of play to lead the Bobcats with 10 points, as Charlotte cruised the remainder of the half en route to a 54-40 cushion at the break. Travis Diener got hot in the second period for Orlando, hitting on 3-of-4 shots from the field to pace the Magic with 10 as well.

Diener, along with Marcin Gortat, ended the game with 13, while Daniels pulled in 16 to lead the Magic.

The Bobcats, who are the only team in Orlando without a loss, have been led by Morrison and May in each of their three contests. After today’s action, Morrison is 18-of-48 from the field (37.5 percent), while May has hit 18-of-38 shots for 47.4 percent.</div>

Led by Diener's hot hand, the Magic beat the Bulls, 93-87.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Behind the hot shooting hands of Travis Diener and Matt Walsh, the Orlando Magic notched their second victory of the 2006 Pepsi Pro Summer League, downing the Chicago Bulls 93-87 on Thursday evening. Diener tallied the biggest point total of any scorer so far this week, pouring in 34 on 11-for-16 shooting from the field while hitting on 7-of-10 shots from behind the arc.

Orlando withstood a furious late rally from Chicago to take home the ‘W,’ as the Bulls erased a 10-point Magic lead midway through the fourth with a 13-4 run. Tyrus Thomas capped off the spree, closing the gap to as little as one, 87-86, with a three from the top of the key with 1:00 left on the clock. But Diener and James Augustine sealed the victory, combining to hit all six of their charity shots down the stretch to maintain the lead.

Diener hit four three-pointers and tallied 18 points in the first half to lead all scorers at the break. Chicago was up by seven, 38-31, with 3:35 left in the second quarter, but Diener, Walsh and Joe Shipp hit consecutive treys to close out the half down only one, 44-43.

Orlando kept the momentum going into the second half until Miami closed out the third with an 8-3 run, taking an 86-83 lead heading into the fourth. But the Magic answered back, outscoring the Bulls 17-5 in the early moments of the final period to take their 10-point lead, the largest for either team in the game.

Walsh ended the contest with three treys and 20 points, while Shipp chipped in 17 for Orlando. Michael Harris led the way for the Bulls with 17, while Thomas finished 5-of-11 from the field with 13 points and four rebounds. Both teams shot an identical 50.8 percent for the game, but the difference came from three-point land, where the Magic hit on 13-of-24 attempts (54.2 percent).</div>

Magic finish summer league with a win over the Heat, 85-70.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Erik Daniels hit 8-of-9 shots and finished with 20 points as the Orlando Magic cruised to their largest victory of the 2006 Pepsi Pro Summer League, an 85-70 decision over the Miami Heat Friday afternoon. Daniels’ hot hand was indicative of the entire squad, which shot over 50 percent from the field (52.5) for the second consecutive day.

The Magic out-shot (46.4 percent to 36.1) and out-rebounded (20-11) the Heat in the first half of play en route to a 41-34 advantage at halftime. Daniels paved the way for Orlando, hitting all five of his shot attempts, including two from three-point territory, for 12 points while bringing down five rebounds.

The Heat started the second half with a 9-3 run in the quarter’s first 2:51, knotting the game at 43-43, but it was all Magic the remainder of the period as they opened up their largest lead of the week, 65-49, while holding Miami to just six points the rest of the period.

Orlando put to rest any chance of a comeback from the Heat in the final 10:00 of the game, shooting 64.3 percent in the fourth en route to their third victory of the week.

Daniels was just one of five Magic players to reach double figures – he was joined by Alpha Bangura (18), Marlon Palmer (15) and James Augustine and Joe Shipp, who each finished with 10. Marcin Gortat helped Orlando outrebound Miami 33-23, pulling in 10 off the glass.

Miami, who finished the week 2-3 in league play, were led by Earl Barron’s 14 points. Barron was impressive in each of his five games in Orlando, finishing the week averaging 22.0 points and 7.2 rebounds per game.</div>

The announcers said that the Magic thought they had seen enough from him during summer league. But the announcers sucked, but that's the info they gave.
