<font color=""SlateGray"">Alonzo Mourning: Likely to Stay with Heat

    RotoWire.com Staff - RotoWire.com
    Sunday, July 9, 2006
Update: Mourning is expected to return to the Heat after the Spurs attempted to lure him from Miami, the San Antonio Express-News reports.

Recommendation: The Spurs tried for about a week to sign Mourning and were initially encouraged. However, by late Saturday afternoon, it appeared that Mourning would stay with the Heat. The Spurs are continuing to look for size, and they are expected to focus their attention on Utah's Jarron Collins or Memphis' Lorenzen Wright. </font>

Matt Bonner! No but I think it was a bad move letting Nazr walk, even though he was asking too much. Everyone's getting overpayed so why not give him what he wants. This could hurt the Spurs.

You can always start Fabricio Oberto. Matt Bonner may be a good choice because he can spread the floor with his 3 point ability. If not, then get Lorenzen Wright, can't get him, then get Francisco Elson?

The Warriors seem to be shopping Troy Murphy around. He may not be able to play center, but he could be a fine complement to Tim Duncan. Troy averages a double-double, he is a very fine rebounder who has pulled in 20 boards on a few occassions. He is a nice shooter, and is good at pump faking from about 15 feet and taking his man off the tribble and getting to the basket. I read that the Spurs want someone who doesn't need to have his back to the basket to take space away from Duncan on offense, which is what Murphy can do. I believe Parker going of Murphy pick and rolls would be pretty good with Murphy's shooting ability. Also Murphy is 6-11 with some pretty long arms. His contract is not so bad compared to other starting PF's in the NBA, but it can be pricey or lengthy, though he's still relatively young. His defense is definitley not at the Spurs' level, but he is a bit scrappy, especially for boards.

What would the Spurs' level of interest in Murphy be?

The spurs have lacked a center pos. since david left, i dont think they will be any different this year. Once they get a decent center then i see this team being better

    Sean Marks? [IMG]

I think they'll end up signing Lorenzen Wright, and he'll be thrown out there to basically make up numbers and help cater to the other players as much as possible.
