<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">ESPN.com - Mike James, who has been deciding between the Houston Rockets , Dallas Mavericks and Minnesota Timberwolves is expected to be making his decision Tuesday. James, the 31 year old point guard who had a breakout year averaging 20.3 points-per-game and 5.8 assists-per-game, recently met with the Western Conference champion Dallas Mavericks ' coach Avery Johnson. "The biggest 'wow' in this whole situation has been Avery Johnson," James says. "I respect him as a coach, but we have a relationship beyond the court. We've been friends for some years now. I've always respected Avery, even as a player when he had that broke jump shot. But he has a ring and he knows what it takes to win. He's been the person who has wowed me the most through this process." James has been looking to sign with a title contender throughout the free agency process.</div> Source
I don't know where he will fit in; another undersized guard in the mold of Terry. Hopefully our team chemistry won't suffer. He seems like a good pickup for the MLE, considering what was left out there anyway.
Mike James is a stud..He's gonna bring a swagger to the Mavs team, plus he is good friends with Avery. We're not giving up anything for him. He's a steal for the MLE unlike Dampier's contract which was influcenced by Avery as well. Terry will probably move to SG if James does sign with us. Avery doesn't have much faith in Devin Harris after last year's playoffs. Wish we'd traded Harris instead of Daniels for Croshere. Here's how our depth chart would look like.. James/Harris Terry/Ager Howard/Stack Dirk/Croshere Diop/Dampier
Harris is young.. I think he will be just fine. Especially since he carried us through the SA series. I just hope he won't be another dissapointing, aging acquisition who had bloated numbers in his contract year with a poor team (a la Dampier).
