Glad to hear. I like Randolph and I think he has the potential to be a pretty good player one day. I hope Green comes to agreement with his new contract, because the guy obviously has a lot of talent.

I don’t think this comes as a surprise to any one, King always does a good job of resigning his own free agents. Hopefully, for the organization and Willie Green’s sake, he doesn’t go out and injure his knee this off-season. I don’t think Green ever was close to leaving, even last off-season, despite being a really good player when healthy he doesn’t draw much attention for some reason.

I think that's probably because of the lack of time he has played. Last season, if I remember correctly, he didn't even play 10 games. The season before that, his role was to basically sit on the bench, and play only when AI was injured. I think if this season he gets good, consistent minutes, he will get more attention around the league, and more people will start knowing his name. If AI gets traded, I expect to see a breakout season by Willie Green.

    Sixers Re-Sign Shav Randolph

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The Philadelphia 76ers re-signed restricted free agent forward Shavlik Randolph on Wednesday. Per team policy, financial terms were not disclosed.

The 6-foot-10, 240-pound Randolph tallied 2.3 points and 2.3 rebounds per game during 57 contests in his rookie season.

The former Duke star was originally signed as an undrafted free agent by the Sixers in the summer of 2005.

Merged these threads together just so we don’t have multiple threads around the forum about the same topic. Anyway, I don’t see how Randolph’s two points and two rebounds a game add up to a two million dollar contract, but that’s just me.

Given the minutes, Randolph has shown he can play. The guy rebounds, hustles, and was one of the very few players on our squad that played with heart. I think he has the potential to be a decent player for us one day.

Yeah he is going to be solid, but I still don?t see how he is worth two million dollars a year. I don?t even know if he is worth one million a year. I guarantee you that any half way decent undrafted free agent could fill the same role Randolph played for us last season. I don?t think any other team even made an offer to Randolph. King has a history of overpaying to keep his own restricted free agents.

Good point. I dunno, I guess we did sort of overpay, but 2 million really isn't THAT much money. Hopefully he gets some decent playing time next season instead of just sitting on the bench.

    Green Signs for 6 Years

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">It took a year longer than he planned, but Willie Green finally has his contract extension.

Almost a year after a game of pickup basketball cost the Philadelphia 76ers guard an extension when he injured his left knee, the 6-foot-2 guard signed a deal expected to be similar to the six-year, $20 million agreement he and the team reached a year ago.

Green was all smiles after agreeing to the contract.

"I'm happy that we were able to come and get this contract done, so now I can go play a couple pickup games," he joked.

Sixers GM Billy King said the team missed Green on both ends of the court and was happy to get a deal done.

"I'm just excited that now he's signed and he can play five-on-five," King said.

Glad to see Shav and Willie back. I really would like to see Shav blossom and Green pick up where he left off before his injury next season.
