I'm glad to see Hinrich join Team USA. They really do need a good point guard like Hinrich. Hopefully he doesnt get injured.

This might be slightly off topic, but when do you guys think Hinrich will break All-Star status, if he can at all. East does have very good guards. But I'd say maybe this season or next season.

The squad looks good, we actually have core players this year, compared to last year when everyone on the floor was looking to score 20 points a game. Can't wait to miss work and watch these games!!!

Hinrich is unlucky that he was picked after Bron, Melo and Wade where he is basically the forgotten man in that draft.

Didn't Hinrich say something last year about reservations about joining the US if asked. I remember there was an article about it posted here but I can't remember what it was exactly about but I knew where he was coming from.

This is the best news I've heard all day. Hinrich is sick and its good to know that someone finally noticed.

He's exactly what Team USA needs. A player that doesn't have to score to be effective. Hinrich won't get much playing time with Gilbert Arenas, Chris Paul, Luke Ridnour and Chauncey Billups but when he is in there we all know he'll give it 110%.

As for when he'll reach all-star status, it will probably be in a few years. When Allen Iverson, Jason Kidd, and Chauncey Billups start wearing down or go out of the East then he has a good shot to be Arenas' back-up.

Yes he had some reservations. that's why he initially declined. But according to the article, he apparently regretted it, and finally accepted when they asked him to reconsider later.

the topic is been beaten to death, but that draft from 2003 is sick. They could just send a USA team from that draft alone and they would be among the favorites :
starting five : Hinrich, Lebron, Wade, Bosh, Kaman.
Subs: Melo, JHoward, TJ ford, Collison, David West, Luke Walton, Outlaw, Jarvis hayes

That's 13 guys that can flat out play.

Does he automatically make it or does he have to try out and see if he makes it? Because I don't think all those PG's are going to make the team?

I believe he will still have to try out team USA invited about 25 guys I think, give or take a few, so they got to cut that down to 15. Good for Hinrich though I thought he made a mistake when he turned them down during the season so it is good that they had enough respect for him to go ask him to play again. Playing and training with people on team USA can only make him better.

He's trying out... the final roster is 12. There's 24 invitees right now and that will be cut down to 15 and then 12.
