<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The pressure is on Andris Biedrins.

The Warriors' backup center, entering his third year out of Latvia, is on the spot, if not on the verge of becoming the odd man out. The Warriors drafted two centers last month, putting Biedrins on notice: It's time to shake that project label.

``I think he's ready for it,'' said assistant coach Mario Elie, who is coaching the Warriors' installment in the Vegas Summer League at UNLV's Cox Pavilion.

When the Warriors drafted him with the 11th overall pick of the 2004 NBA draft, Biedrins was 18 and a few years of grooming from making a significant contribution. But the Warriors need him to grow up now. If he doesn't, Patrick O'Bryant, drafted with the ninth overall pick last month, might take his spot.

There's room for only two centers in the Warriors' regular rotation, especially with their propensity for going with a small lineup. Coach Mike Montgomery already has said Adonal Foyle will be the starting center. That leaves Biedrins and O'Bryant vying for playing time behind Foyle. Then there's second-year forward Chris Taft, who can play some center, assuming he recovers from off-season back surgery. Kosta Perovic, the Warriors' second-round pick this year, doesn't figure to be a factor, but the training-camp competition at center should be interesting.</div>

I'm really liking his progress in '06 year, but this is taking into account he kept doing that stupid foul where he jumps into someone. Then also he gets outmuscled quite a bit against mid-level centers.

    Some positive things:
    - Excellent quickness moving off the ball, despite some weight gain
    - Nice handles for his size
    - Becoming more fluid with his drop step move.
    - As a lefty, he showed he can score with his right hand at close range (a must if this guy wants to be an elite paint player)
    - Had one or two plays where he showed we might use him as an alley-oop weapon. (probably not a good idea to throw the ball and make him go get it if other people are just standing around...)

It's too bad the video doesn't really capture how crappy he is of a free throw shooter and how he picks up some pretty cheap fouls. Everything else he's got great potential in that raw athletic sort of way.

At least he's not doing this. Holy crap...

Adonal one is a killer, almost reminds the Ewing free throw from SpaceJam... Love the look on Diogu face after the shoot.

Well i hope the 900 FT/Day will do some improvement, as for fouls I think he should learn in time how to play agressive and not pick up cheep fouls, and refs should call less fantom calls in his 3rd year....
