<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">John Salmons seemed as if his mind was made up to join the Suns at the start of the week. Four days later, Salmons is expected to make his decision between the Suns and the Toronto Raptors today. The Suns are offering a five-year contract worth about $22 million. Toronto is making a more lucrative five-year pitch. Both teams would acquire Salmons in a sign-and-trade deal with Philadelphia, but Sixers President Billy King is letting Salmons pick the team. The Sixers likely would get a second-round draft pick in either case but assumedly a better one from Toronto. With Phoenix, Philadelphia would get a trade exception worth half of the $3.6 million one the Suns would use to make the deal. Phoenix can start Salmons' contract at $3.7 million because it is a sign-and-trade deal. The Raptors' offer is substantially more.</div> Link Substantially larger offer than 5 years/ $22 million? Salmons is a good player and all but is he worth that much? There goes all our cap space.

He would be a good value from $2.5-3 million a year, which is what the Suns are most likely offering. I've heard that Billy King was offered a $3 million dollar cap exemption from the Suns along with a second round pick. If King is letting Salmons pick his team, that would most likely be the trade from the Raptors as well.
I believe Toronto has about 7 mill left in capspace with the new salary cap at 53 million. Maybe they see something in Salmon's we don't. He could turn out to be a Boris Diaw or something like that. Who knows, things happen magically.
LOL, salmons is coveted by both of the phoenix systems. i bet that there will be plenty more of these players that BC has to fight phoenix for.
Is it just me, or do the Colangelo's love battling each other for the same guy to see who will win? I'm pretty sure Phoenix will eventually land him as they will offer more, but its just my opinion. So far, its Toronto 1 Phoenix 0 [For Garbojosa]
Some guys from a philly message board are saying that Salmons chose Toronto. It was reported on a philly news station. No link as of yet so that's why I didn't make a new thread about this.
I hope he chooses Toronto, I've always liked Salmons and he's a very underrated player in Philly they expected too much, but if put in the right situation he could be a valuable asset to our team.
