Guess not, but he would have added nicely to our depth, if we got him at a low price...

    The link doesn't work.

Bogans is a restricted free agent, so even if he signed an offer sheet with Orlando, we can match it within seven days and he automatically has to sign with us.

Yea knowin JVG, he'll probably let Bogans go and resign Rod Strickland. After all, "we can't wait on a young player to develop, we gotta win now". [IMG]

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">HOUSTON -- Unrestricted free agent Keith Bogans has agreed to deal with the Orlando Magic, his agent said.

The 6-foot-5 Bogans played in 39 games for Charlotte last season before he was traded to the Houston Rockets on Feb. 9. Bogans appeared in 33 games for Houston and averaged 8.5 points, 2.5 assists and 4.5 rebounds.

Michael Harrison, Bogans' agent, would not release details of Bogans' new contract, but confirmed that Bogans would sign it Thursday. Harrison said the Rockets chose not to match Orlando's offer.

The former Kentucky star is returning to his first NBA stop. Milwaukee drafted Bogans, then traded him to Orlando in June 2003. He played one season with the Magic before he was traded to Charlotte for Brandon Hunter.

"Orlando was on his short list," Harrison said. "He loved it down there and it all worked out. He couldn't be happier."

The deal was first reported by KRIV-TV in Houston.

Hmm, never saw that coming. This move makes no sense, unless Bogans signed a contract more than $2 million/year. Definitely wouldn't have hurt to keep him around, unless the Rockets have a replacement in their sight.

No way the Magic would have done this. Otis Smith wants to keep Ariza.

Bogans for Stevenson sounds great, but Stevenson wants a lot more money than Bogans though I don't know how it will work out.

Dunno how Stevenson would help our offense much..

Actually that would work....you lose Bogans but you get Stevenson who would be a good compliment to the team and depth. He is a good defender and doesn't complain about not getting shots.

It would be quite a toss up if you guys got Stevenson and we have Bogans though, wouldn't it? [IMG]

Well, Orlando has pretty much given up on keeping Stevenson. We could possibly nab him with the MLE, maybe less.

I don't get why we didn't go after John Salmons, who signed a 5 year/$23 million deal with Toronto yesterday. He's 6-6, has the ability to play three positions, and is pretty athletic. Toronto overbid for him, but now we shouldn't be in a cost-conscious mindset. Almost all the good free agents are gone.
