What does everyone think of Renaldo Balkman? In terms of statistics, he had an average Summer League, but in terms of impact, I think Balkman will fit in well with us. He doesn't look for his offense at all and seems to know his limitations on the court.

didn't get a chance to see him, looking forward to it, but how important is he right now? How many minutes is he actually going to see? 6 or 8 per game? Isiah's number one priority is playing the vets that he brought in so he can look like a genius.... renaldo will be a C-level story.

I don't think he'll get those minutes. Maybe something in the 15-18 mpg range. The thing about Balkman is he does something different. There's no one on the roster who plays defense and hustles like him and that's something stats don't measure. When Jerome Williams played with us he only averaged 4.5 points and 3.6 rebounds per game, but Knick fans know he impacted the game more than what the stats showed. I see Balkman having a similar role.

I like him and don't think people should have been as hard as they were when Isiah selected him.

Renaldo Balkman didnt embarass himself and Isiah Thomas with the way he performed in the summer league. However he's still a late second round player anyway you slice it. And there is absolutely no excuse for drafting him where he was drafted. None whatsoever. With all that being said I hope he can give us some decent minutes and has a solid career. It's still a God awful pick however that could end up being even worse than Frederic Weis.

Anyway I think Isiah Thomas should be fired.

I got a chance to watch a couple of the summer league games. Renaldo Balkman didn't look so bad. He had great intensity and although it didn't reflect on his stats, he seems like a great hustler. It's all going to go towards how he performs this seasons, so...

What Isiah did in the draft was bring a different dimension to the knicks. Instead of having all ball dominant players he brought in a few players that are not ball dominant. Balkman plays defence and hustles he could help in going out and actually getting the ball and put it in the hands of marbury and Francis and Mardy Collins would seem like he fits the knicks because he is a 6'6" point guard who is pass first and could fit well with 6'3" steve francis and stephon marbury who are score first point guards. This is a make or break season for the knicks with them all over the board right now in terms of estimated success though. But if what i heard is true Isiah is an idiot because i read in an article that Isiah didn't take Marcus Williams because his body fat% was too high and that he is a headcase and will not make it in the nba If thats true isiah is nuts

He'll do fine. He brought exactly what I figured--hustle, rebounding and defense. His ballhandling was also a lot better than what I thought. If he gets 20-25 minutes per, he'll get around 6 ppg, 7 rpg, 2 bpg and a lot of activity on both ends of the floor.

The Knicks had a chance to get value with the pick. Renaldo does not deserve flack for that. He would have been just fine with me in the 29 spot.
Passing on Marcus Williams could prove devastating if we don't put it together and on top of that he might become a cornerstone of the future Brooklyn Nets and a lingering reminder of what could have been. At that time we better pray Mardi Collins can play the role of pure point guard or is going to get uglier.

Marcus Williams + ( fill the blank ) > Renaldo Blackman + Mardi Collins

This isn't the draft thread. We all know how Knick fans feel about the picks, you just have to live with it now.
