Not thrilled about this but he'll be a solid player. I havent really paid attention to salmons that much but i do remember him doing pretty well against us.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting deception:</div><div class="quote_post">[quote name='P.A.P.']I always thought Salmons had pretty good tools and overall skills to be an above average player. I see him as a mini Joe Johnson kinda with his ability to play the 1-2-3. QUOTE] i knew somebody was going to throw out the joe johnson comparison but the difference is that joe johnson is a lot more atheltic and a much better shooter. salmons has to rely on basket ball smarts a lot more than joe johnson who can elevate above a defender and shoot.</div> I said "mini Joe Johnson kinda", which basically means he has similiar attributes to JJ but not as good overall compared to him, which is why they are 'mini'. Those attributes being his versatility, ball handling, ability to get into the paint and create a bit with his moves with the ball.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting og15:</div><div class="quote_post">Why did we sign Salmons for 5 years?</div> i was kinda thinking about that as well in light of colangelo being adament about giving out three year contracts. i guess they must really wanted salmons
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting og15:</div><div class="quote_post">Why did we sign Salmons for 5 years?</div> If they were to offer anything less than 5 years then he would've gone to Phoenix for sure. I guess Colangelo likes him that much to make sure we don't lose him to Phoenix, even if it means giving him a long contract. And I disagree with those saying there's no room for him. First of all, he adds depth to our bench, and we all know how much our bench is lacking. Secondly, he's versatile. He can play the 1-2-3 so we'll have no problems finding minutes for him to play, especially when you take injuries into consideration. Overall, it's a good pickup. Maybe a little too pricy, but nevertheless, a very good acquisition.
i understand that you got to overpay a bit for people to come to toronto that is fine... but...5 years? wow
Why does everyone have PJ Tucker rated so highly, he will be lucky to even make our squad. I see most of you have him as the backup SF on the depth chart ahead of Joey Graham AND Salmons... that is NOT true. Tucker has averaged like 2 points 1 board in summer league, SUMMER LEAGUE. What notion do we have that he is any good besides what he did in college. He will get garbage tiem on our team until he proves himself. PG- Ford/Calderon/Salmons SG- Parker/Salmons/Peterson SF- Peterson/Graham/Bargnani/Parker/Salmons/Tucker PF- Bosh/Bargnani/Garbajosa/Humphries C- Nesterovic/Bargnani/ Humphries (I believe he'll be able to play C, he's proving himself in summer league) i know it's just summer league but at least we know he can play.

He's a second round pick, do you expect him to come in and have a huge impact right away? Or are you still pissed we passed up Denham Brown?
5 years is alot for a guy that didnt really produce even though he was given 25minutes a game....the pricetag isnt too insane though, lets see how it works out. I really like him in some summer league games i saw, but didnt catch any of the regular season games.
To be fair, it was essentially impossible for a player, outside of AI and Webber, to be too productive in Philly's system last season.

Iggy attemped 10 shots per game. Salmons on the other hand only attemped 7 shots a game... kinda hard to score attempting only 7 shots a game.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting spyware:</div><div class="quote_post">We should've traded that pick away</div> There's only so much you can get for a second round pick in a trade.
he can be a great adition for us, Most Improved Player of the year anyone?? Is he a PG or a shooting?
oh yeah But i think he will back up Moe in the shooting guard position, just hope that Calderon develop that shot of his. The 3 will be Anthony Parkers. Joey and even maybe Jorge Garabosa if we sign him
