Rumors have been surfacing all summer long that the Magic want to move him. First he was involved in the Rockets deal and then his name was brought up when the Magic were pursuing JR Smith. A "Magic Insider" has said that we are trying to move him so that we can have a roster spot for Marcin Gortat. Gortat was a second round pick from last year who has been very impressive in practice and during the summer league. Whether or not he plays for us this season or plays overseas for one year all depends on whether or not we can move Pat. So my question is, will we be able to deal Garrity and if so, for who? Use this thread for trade ideas, rumors, etc.

Insert Team Name Here Gets: Pat Garrity and $5 Magic Get: A large meatball sub from Quiznos and a coupon for a free drink. Then in a fascinating turn of events, the Magic give the sub to GatorsRock on JBB. Maybe take the drink out, but basically a Quiznos meatball sub is $7, so we would get $2 for Pat Garrity basically.
whoa there!!! quiznos is pretty expensive... maybe a 6 inch at subway..that would be pretty even of a deal
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting MainMan:</div><div class="quote_post">whoa there!!! quiznos is pretty expensive... maybe a 6 inch at subway..that would be pretty even of a deal</div> That's why we have to throw in the $5. We need to get the best quality sub out of Garrity even if it means giving up more cash.
He doesnt have any trade value anymore... A couple years ago we can could have moved him for a 1st round pick or a decent player. But now he would just be filler space on a bigger trade. He cant stay healthy and with his age there just isnt a market for injured 3pt shooters.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting DIRK4L1FE:</div><div class="quote_post">Pat Garrity was NEVER worth a 1st round pick</div> He was NEVER worth anything..... He sucks, I would just wait his contract out at the least if you can't trade him. I remember so many times when we had the game in the bag and Garrity comes in with his no defense, no rebound, and streaky ass shooting. Ruined so many games......
^^I was refering to the statement made by smokrockz about moving garrity for a 1st rounder a couple of years ago^^

As much as we hate him now, we loved him before. He doesn't do anything stupid with the ball, hence his .79 TO per game ratio for his career. He's a career 40+% shooter. I wouldn't say that he ruined so many games, because don't forget all the game winners that he hit for us, when Tmac was doubled or tripled. He used to be a pretty key role player for the Magic making the playoffs. At one point, we could have gotten a late 1st for him. I can't believe I just backed Garrity. He's pure garbage now, but he used to be good.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">He's pure garbage now, but he used to be good.</div> Used to be good.
He was a decent role player that could come in and not mess up with garbage minutes, hit the shot and had range, cept he was projected into more than a garbage minute role. He did do a decent job and cos he had that shooting expertise he was handy, but yeah, really now he is past it, he is alot more streaky now that he ever was and just doesnt have ne value. A player like that never deserves 6yr contract, so why in hells name did we do that :/
Last year it would seem like everytime he had a open three pointer, he would hesitate just long enough for a defender to get over and cover him or to throw off his focus and miss the shot. It's like he would think about it too much instead of just putting up the shot.
But lets not forget his dunk on dalembert. That alone deserves some respect. When i said he was worth a first round pick, he was a pure shooter and really helped us spread the floor. When tmac was here he was the only other player that we wouldnt move. I know he wasnt worth a lottery pick, but at his prime he was worth a first round pick to a contender. He did a lot for this team, its just it was in the past, he hasnt had a healthy season in a while.
