Well the Supes lost their first game to Philly, 88-74. Mouhamed Sene had 7pts, 4 rebounds, 5 blocks, and 6 fouls in 20 minutes. Felix led the Sonics with 19 points. Here's the rest of the Box: http://www.nba.com/media/jazz/06game1.pdf
Sene did good on the blocks. Shot 3-4. Brown shot 1-10.. pretty bad night for him. Langford and Emmett had nice games off the bench.
Sonics 70, Spurs 73 Andre Emmett our best (remember him?) with 21 points and seven rebounds on 10-15 shooting. Brown had another poor shooting night (2-9, seven points) but Sene continues to show something, with eight points on 4-7 shooting, five boards and two blocks in 23 minutes. http://www.nba.com/media/jazz/06game4.pdf
There are rumors out there that Swifty is weighing in at a little above 260lbs. He's traveling with the team during the summer league. He grew his hair out and now looks like Shaggy. It seems that he's really working hard in the off-season. Hopefully that will result into a big year.
I'm actually surprised that Bobby Swift wasn't on the active roster. I figured the more floor time and the more confidence that he would get playing against inferior competition would bode well for him come the regular season. Listening to Bob Hill talk about Denham Brown I have a feeling that despite his poor shooting that he will earn a roster spot. He may be trying to force things considering that going into these games he was probably thought of as the team's best scorer. I'm sure that he will have a breakout game at some point during this summer league. Sene is going to continue to impress b/c there isn't much immediate expectations from him. I do believe that he will have an impact on our success in this upcoming season.
According to Brian Robinson (who is working the RMR this year for Sonicscentral) Swift is in Utah BEGGING Sund to let him play every day. Apparently the Sonics don't like third year players to play summer league unless there is something they need to see from them (like when Radman played the 4 that one year).
he's got some all over his back too...he went nuts with the tattoos. Oh and we won our first summer league game vs. the Jazz. Sene had a good game with 13 pts, 6 boards and 5 blocks. He fouled out in 27 minutes. Denham Brown finally broke out of his slump and shot 8-9. Here's the rest of the box: http://www.nba.com/media/jazz/06game9.pdf
Nice to see Halperin have an okay game. Nothing spectacular, but he's been slow to start off in the first two games. Doesn't surprise me with Brown, as he is a proven scorer and was always going to break out of his slump at some point, while Sene is showing a lot more than Petro did in last season's SL. According to DraftExpress he saved three balls by diving out of bounds too, including one play where he blocked Arajuo once, almost blocked him again, tipped a ball away from two Jazz players and saved it to a teammate while falling out of bounds. Our three draft picks were our three most productive players, so can't complain about that. http://www.draftexpress.com/viewarticle.php?a=1416
We all know the sale of the team by now and are pretty disgusted. Meanwhile down in Utah, the supes played their 4th summer league game. Sene did not play in this one but Swift took his spot and boy did he stink: 19 minutes, 7 fouls, 2 points, 4 to's and 4 rebounds. I'm not sure why Sene didn't play.
We beat the previously undefeated Philly 88-86 today. The whole starting five scored in double figures, led by Swifty's 13/10 and six blocks. http://www.nba.com/media/jazz/Game13.pdf
Three of the completed sonics summer league games airing this week on NBA TV. Wed 7PM PDT Sonics v Jazz is the first...I list the others as they get posted.
