I wouldn't mind Gooden in Chicago, gives us scoring at PF. But, it would matter what he contract looks like when he signs one.
not for a lot of money. i first thought this thread said Gordon to Chicago and I was wondering if BKS was a little drunk. lol
I would not go for this move if it involves paying him much over the MLE. Gooden is solid, but if he is looking for a six-year contract, I do not think Chicago is the right fit for him. He would likely be on the bench after the first season of his contract was completed if Tyrus develops quickly.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting thedude9990:</div><div class="quote_post">doesnt he want nene money?</div> He probably does, probably around 10 mil a year according to some fans.
I hope noone gives him Nene money, thats ridiculous. He averages like 10-10 a game? More than Nene did i guess....But still I dont think any team would give him that kind of money.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting thedude9990:</div><div class="quote_post">doesnt he want nene money?</div> According to published reports he is demanding a little more than the MLE.
That's it? All big men so far have had big deals in the past years, Tyson, Dally, Nene, I thought he would want the same. Surprised the Cavs haven't signed him yet then.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The Bulls will also keep an eye on Cleveland power forward Drew Gooden, a restricted free agent. Gooden appears headed for a sign-and-trade scenario and the Cavs probably don?t want to take any big contracts in return, so a package of Chris Duhon and Michael Sweetney might have a slim chance of working.</div> Source
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting SP23:</div><div class="quote_post">Gooden for Duhon and Sweets... I probably wouldn't do that.</div> To tell you the truth I?m not really sure right now if I go with my heart I?m saying no. I feel our need for front court scoring is blown way out of proportion we averaged a few percentage points under 96 points a game last year and ranked top 15 in the league in scoring. People who are saying we will struggle to score points next year obviously don?t watch this team on a regular bases. Ben Wallace is going to give you the same amount of points Chandler did, if not more, so the Chandler/Wallace switch cancels itself out on the offensive end of the court. Then we added PJ Brown (averaged a double double a number of times), and Tyrus Thomas (has shown a consistent jumper) to the frontcourt so if anything our frontcourt scoring should go up. I have yet to mention the fact that we added Thabo Sefolosha who is not too shabby on the offensive end, JR Smith who is a dynamic offensive player and the fact that Ben Gordon, Kirk Hinrich, and Luol Deng will only continue to improve on the offensive end. The way I see it things are looking up we don?t really need Gooden especially for the number of years he is looking for. Would it be nice to have him? Sure, it would be, but I don?t want to trade one of my teams captains (Duhon) and a guy who is a work horse (Sweetney) for a big man who we will likely have to overpay.
Sweetyney is a work horse? Really? I've never heard of that. Plus the fact that he is overweight doesn't give that impression.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting NaKz:</div><div class="quote_post">Sweetyney is a work horse? Really? I've never heard of that. Plus the fact that he is overweight doesn't give that impression.</div> Just, because he is overweight does not mean he doesn?t work hard. During his time at Georgetown he took a beating night in and night out carring that team. No one in the NCAA could really match up with his size so they would hack him all night. If you search youtube you might find a video of his coach attesting to that. Anyway, some players are just naturally big. I?m not saying Sweetney is without a question on of those guys, but when he is on the court he is willing to do whatever it takes to help the team win. For reference look at the first round series against Miami.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Best Kept Secret:</div><div class="quote_post">For reference look at the first round series against Miami.</div> You got a point, I forgot about that. I remember at times Sweets did as good as a job as one could hope against Shaq. You say he is willing to do what it takes for the team to win. If he does think like that then I'd like to see him expand his view on this. For example he starts to thinking, this team will be better if I am better. Then how will I get better? By losing some weight and getting in ideal playing condition.
