Second two years are a team option.
Quote:

The Celtics haven?t seen a whole lot of Leon Powe, but they?ve seen enough to give him a three-year contract. Like the deal given to Ryan Gomes (also a second-round pick) last year, Powe will get a full guarantee this season, with the latter two years at the option of the team. The Celts obviously had their eyes on the 6-foot-8 power forward awhile before making the draft night trade with Denver to get his rights. ?Leon is a really hard-working, low-post, rebounding tough kid,? Ainge said. ?He hasn?t had a chance to play all that much here, but we thought he had a really good camp. He hasn?t played a ton of minutes, but he?s done some good things that we like. ?He?s done well on second efforts. He?s gotten a few baskets that way that no one else on our team would have got, just hanging around the glass. He?s a high-effort guy.? Powe is pleased to know where he?ll be working. ?It?s good to know you?re going to be someplace,? he said. ?Now I can just go out and work hard. That?s what I do.? Powe had eight points and six rebounds yesterday, finishing the week with nearly four boards a game in 15.4 minutes. ?I?m learning that you?ve got to find your spots up here,? he said. ?You have to run the floor and get loose balls and tip-ins.?
http://celtics.bostonherald.com/celtics/vi...rticleid=148436

Quoting Trench:

Congrats to Mr. Powe. Im sure Shape will be happy for him.
Indeed It's an interesting contract, because of the 3 year commitment Boston has invested in Powe. Does signing Powe mean Ryan Gomes is going to be part of the Iverson package? Powe and Gomes are similar players, and it's hard to imagine Ainge plans on keeping both for the long run. ?I?m learning that you?ve got to find your spots up here,? he said. ?You have to run the floor and get loose balls and tip-ins.? I love this quote by Powe. I was wondering how he would adjust to going from the 1st and 2nd option on offense, into just a role player. It's good he's accepted his role, understands his limitations, and realizes he's going to get his points by out hustling everyone for rebounds and getting out on breaks.
It's actually only a one year commitment since the last two years are a team option. They gave the same type of contract to Gomes last year. As for Gomes being traded, I'd say not likely. If we're going to land A.I., Jefferson will have to be part of the package. So I think Powe is his replacement.
The Truth and The Show Unite What it iz yall? I'm new to this whole "forum" deal, but you will be hearing a lot from me in the future for two reasons, (1) my Heat won the championship (I've been done since the Hardway trade from Golden State-95') so I have bragging rights for a year and (2) Leon "The Show" Powe signed with Boston Celtics. I am from Oakland, and watched Leon dismantle high school players, and college players alike (pre and post knee surgery) so I will be you Boston Fan's peek inside the window of potential. I know what this manchild is capable of and trust me, if you know what's best, you'll let him do his thing. Holla back and please, keep the chit-chat going. PEE S. S. I do talk a lot of trash (I was born in Seatlle, it's just the G.P. in me) however, I am Saved and won't allow profanity, rudeness, or disrespect of any kind going on in my leagues. So if you can't roll with that, I am the Commish, I'll just boot you. Holla [red]Feel free to advertise your league in the Fantasy forum, not here.[/red]
