Ever found yourself going "Whatever happened to that guy? He was just a freshman and then he disappeared." Well, in doing some research for next year's college rankings, I noticed a lot of big name players who disappeared from the national spotlight last season that will resurface on the collegiate scene next season with different teams. Great piece, nice little refresher because honestly I've forgot about most of these guys. JR Giddens and Drew Lavender are both going to make huge impacts with their new teams. Cheyenne Moore is a guy that has been underrated as well...
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting P.A.P.:</div><div class="quote_post">Why did Giddens transfer from Kansas?</div> <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Didn't he get stabbed or something?</div> Yeah, Giddens was in a brawl in May of '05 in which he was stabbed in the calf and suffered a severed artery. While this fight wasn't the only reason Giddens left, it was definitely a contributing factor. He basically wanted a fresh start, not only as a player but as a person. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Luarence McKenzie is gonna be good next year i think. I am pretty sure he is eligable and will start</div> Yes, he's eligible. All of the players I mentioned in this thread are. With Grier, Boone, and Hargrow all leaving, there's also no doubt in my mind that he'll start. The question now becomes, what position will he play? At Oklahoma he split time as both a point guard and a shooting guard. While he's only 6'2", his natural position isn't the point, so I'd expect the Gophers to play him at the two, with JuCo transfer Limar Wilson running the point, but with the way Jamal Abu-Shamala finished off last season, I wouldn't be surprised to see him play the two while McKenzie runs the point either.
Is Shawn James going to be eligible this year? I know he transferred from Northeastern to Duqesene (SPL?). I know he's a shot blocker and that he's got NBA potential, but when did he decide to transfer?

How can you not remember the type of year he had? The guy is a triple double machine. I mean, 6.5 blocks per game is unreal, no matter what team you play for. Here are some other players who will sit next season out to transfer, becoming eligible for the 2007-08 season - Shagari Alleyne - Sr. - C - Transferring from Kentucky to Manhattan Ryan Amoroso - Jr. - PF - Transferring from Marquette to UNLV Eric Boateng - So. - C - Transferring from Duke to Arizona State Joey Cameron - So. - PF - Transferring from Auburn to Seton Hall Tasheed Carr - Jr. - SG - Transferring from Iowa State to St. Joseph's DeMarre Carroll - Jr. - PF - Transferring from Vanderbilt to Missouri Dion Dowell - Jr. - SF - Transferring from Texas to Houston Devan Downey - So. - PG - Transferring from Cincinnati to South Carolina Jeremy Fears - Jr. - PG - Transferring from Ohio to Dayton Roderick Flemings - So. - SG - Transferring from Oklahoma State to North Texas Zam Frederick - Jr. - PG - Transferring from Georgia Tech to South Carolina Steve Holdren - Jr. - SF - Transferring from South Dakota State to Illinois David Huertas - So. - SG - Transferring from Florida to Ole Miss Abdulai Jalloh - Jr. - PG - Transferring from St. Joseph's to a school yet to be named Dior Lowhorn - So. - PF - Transferring from Texas Tech to San Francisco Sylvester Mayes - Sr. - PG - Transferring from Ohio State to a school yet to be named Louie McCroskey - Sr. - SG - Transferring from Syracuse to Iona or Manhattan Tim Morris - Jr. - SG - Transferring from Stanford to Washington Waler Sharpe - Jr. - PF - Transferring from Mississippi State to UAB Rekalin Sims - Sr. - PF - Transferring from Kentucky to Fresno State Shawn Taggart - So. - PF - Transferring from Iowa State to Memphis Rico Tucker - Jr. - PG - Transferring from Minnesota to Pepperdine Robert Vaden - Jr. - SG - Transferring from Indiana to UAB Mike Williams - Jr. - PF - Transferring from Texas to Cincinnati Rashad Woods - So. - SG - Transferring from DePaul to a Junior College
Is Duqesene D1? Never heard of it... Is it a big basketball school, if not, he couldn't get into a better basketball school?
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting SP23:</div><div class="quote_post">Is Duqesene D1? Never heard of it... Is it a big basketball school, if not, he couldn't get into a better basketball school?</div> It's actually called Duquesne University (pronounced doo-KAIN), and it's a private Roman Catholic university located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Athletically, they're not exactly a basketball powerhouse, but they are an Atlantic 10 school, which is a huge step up from the Colonial Athletic Association that Northeastern was in. At Duquesne, James will be guaranteed to play teams like Charlotte, George Washington, St. Joseph's and Xavier, just to name a few. The Dukes also tend to schedule a great non-conference schedule, which included three ranked teams this year (Pittsburgh, West Virginia, and Boston College). They've also got a decent history of putting players into the NBA, like T'Wolves point guard Mike James and former NBA All-Star Norm Nixon. However, Shawn James mainly transferred to Duquesne to follow his head coach at Northeastern, Ron Everhart, who runs a pressure defense that really fits his game well.
So, James is more of a guy that will fit the Suns system when he gets to the NBA or can he play slow pace too?

I can't wait to see how Toney Douglas performs with Florida State. He was used as a tow-guard at Auburn when he was really best suited at the point. He still exploded as a freshman by averaging 16.9 points, 5.3 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.4 steals on his way to becoming a Freshman First-Team All-American. He also finished fourth in the SEC in scoring.
The San Diego State website has Lorrenzo Wade on their roster. What is the deal with him transferring to Washington? I missed the story on this.
