<div class="quote_poster">Quoting 44Thrilla:</div><div class="quote_post">Mike Gorman said after the draft that the Celtics would have picked Rondo at 7 anyway. Not sure if I believe that, but Chad Ford did have us linked with Rondo weeks before the draft. And we did work him out more than any other player.</div> So far as anyone can tell, he's been worth all the hubbub, he looks sharp on D, and effective enough on offense. I'm pleased, and I hope to be when the season starts. If we're lucky, these C's will be a little more capable of jelling at the little man positions, unlike the last couple years. Thanks Marcus.
With Rondo we get exactly what we need...a hell of a perimeter defender, a great rebounding PG, a great penetrator (split the D and dish to pierce, delonte, wally, etc.) a guy who will lead the fast break (because we should certainly be a running nightmare for other teams), and a guy who doesn't need shots on a team that is loaded with guys who should be taking shots. Also I think Telfair is a good option for this team, backing up Delonte at times, or sliding Delonte and Pierce over to SG and SF and playing alongside them if he plays really well (and when Wally inevitably gets hurt). Ainge liked what he saw out of Telfair before he got injured, and I remember thinking at the beginning of last season that it looked like Telfair was going to have a breakout year. Just a reminder, it's only his third season out of high school, which for most guys who skipped college is the year that they really break out, so lets hope for the best w/ Bassy!

Almost 10 points, and almost 4 dimes to go with <2 TO's a game. Fine with me. We have a lot of different variations of what our rotations can look like, and I like the possibilities this team has available to it. Telfair isn't big or strong, but he's quick, and I still think he can learn how to defend. Unforunately, Doc is still coaching in Boston, so the odds against that happening are pretty good. If only we had a little leprechaun and a guy with the ultimate porn stud name to run our defense. Somebody like...
