<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Newark Star-Ledger - After the Celtics extended Paul Pierce, Nets star Vince Carter appears to have been left without the same opportunity from the Nets. Both Carter and Pierce had signed identical contracts five years ago, calling for a $15.1 million salary in 2006-07 and a player option ($16.3 million) the next season. "There's nothing really going on regarding him," Thorn said. "I think Vince's plan is to play this year and see what happens."</div> Source Dallas is going to do everything they can to resign Josh Howard so by the time the 2007 offseason comes around, Vince Carter just might be our only option. If nobody else is available, do we sign Vince?
Well that doesn't mean he's not going to sign an extension. After the season or just prior to this season are common periods for players to sign extensions as well. Plus there's plenty that can happen, the Magic could sign Lewis and trade Turkoglu for a SG (throwing a random scenerio out there). There's plenty more options out there, especially when considering that free agency is a year away for '07.
i honestly dont think vince will be around...I think hes happy were he is at right now and they have a decent enough team do something in the east..i think he will prolly finish his career as a net.. although if he does test the market... orlando will be one of his prime choices seeing he is from daytona.
I think you guys have a great shot at Vince, doesn't he have a house down here? Vince, Jameer, and Dwight Howard? Pairing a star swingman with Dwight should be incentive enough for anybody to want to play for the Magic.

his mom lives like 10 mins away from me... her house is huge and she drives a nice black blentley with a nets tag in the front..
I would take him, not for max contract but for a reasonable price. He will provide much needed support at the SG position, as well as bring in more fans and more media attention to this team. We lack the national tv presense, thats to blame on our record, but we are an exciting up and coming team... We need some national exposure...

If he signs I want it reasonably priced. I don't want it too much, no one wants to see VC's mom swiming in a money pool.....
hahaha...i take it you dont want him here do you alex? well idk either...he would be able to help..but im not a big carter fan anymore...imo he doest play the way he used to..
I'd prefer to just keep the same team and use the money to keep them closer to the cap, since we're going to have to give Dwight a max deal, Jameer a pretty big deal(probably 6-7 mil a year range) and Darko probably a bigger deal than Jameer(probably 8-9 mil a year range). That is of course we can't use some of the money for a role player or 2 to give us more added depth.
Hes from florida i think. Dont think itll happen b/c his cousin mcgrady has only said negative things bout magic.if he does go there it might be grant hill pt.2 magic have lot of cap space.but i think howard nelson will get new contracts after 3rd yr. If he signs and stays healthy i say nba championship.Howard and Bogut will be dominant in east when shaq retires.
now with his divorce...it looks like he may be looking to be coming orlando..that is if orlando is wanting him
i think if we could... signing vince would be a no brainer... if we could hold our own this year and we added a piece like vince for 2007, i think that would put us in championship contention. vince is one of the more humble superstars in the league and i know i would love to see him in a magic jersey.
He got a bad rap early in his career but the man has been the model citizen and he can flat out play the game. By the time he gets here he will be a could a very good 2nd option behind dwight. We need a star at SG position and I think vince and a older dwight could make a pretty good run at a title in 2 years...

We don't have any defense out of the PG and SF positions right now, so we need a defensive minded SG, like a Keith Bogans or Deshawn Stevenson. Vince Carter isn't that. Also, who says that VC would want to be a 2nd option? Throughout his career he has wanted to be the #1 option. We have more than enough offense from the PG and SF positions if they play like they did at the end of the season. I just don't see us going anywhere if we had a starting lineup that consists of Jameer, VC, and Hedo. Despite having 2 beasts downlow, our defense would be decent at best, more than likely horrible. I say that because Dwight and Darko will get into early foul trouble because our guards will be a revolving door. Our offense would be good, but we wouldn't be able to do anything in the playoffs. People see the name VC and want him, despite not really being that great of a fit on our team, IMO. Would i be upset if we got him? Probably not, but I would just rather use the money and get role players that would fit the team better, IMO. <div class="quote_poster">Quoting GatorsowntheNCAA:</div><div class="quote_post">I'd prefer to just keep the same team and use the money to keep them closer to the cap, since we're going to have to give Dwight a max deal, Jameer a pretty big deal(probably 6-7 mil a year range) and Darko probably a bigger deal than Jameer(probably 8-9 mil a year range). i dont agree with the 2nd option, because if we got vince why wouldnt you WANT him to be the first option? dwight would be a very good compliment to vc. IMO it doesn't really matter too much how good the defenders are on the wing, and trust me, carter is more than capable or defending players. i dont know why people are assuming he doesn't D. as long as we have dwight and darko in the middle we are fine. forcing jump shots is playing good defense. it's really simple IMO... IF vince is available and vince WANTS to play in orlando.... championship. edit: this is assuming we have money. the financial side of basketball is something we cant really predict. ie. what if jameer or darko wants to play somewhere else once their contract is up. what exactly are their deals?

People don't know this about Dwight but he actually was not born from his mother's womb, but rather chiseled from a block of granite. Not to mention Dwight will be better than Vince very soon, and Dwight's heart is already light years ahead of Vince. WE DO NOT WANT HIM UNLESS IT'S FOR LIKE .. $9-$10 mil
