<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">If there's a major deal out there, it would have to be for Denver power forward Kenyon Martin. One NBA executive said the Nuggets are "desperate" to unload him and almost certainly could be forced to take Steve Francis, who has three years worth $48.7 million left on his contract, if only because he costs so much less than Martin, who has five years left for $70.9 million. But Martin is coming off microfracture knee surgery and was suspended by the Nuggets during the playoffs for behavioral problems. Denver asked for Frye in the past and likely would again, but the Knicks won't trade Frye.</div> http://www.newsday.com/sports/printedition...ny-sports-print
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting LBJ2006MVP:</div><div class="quote_post">Marbury for Martin thats what i'm hoping for.</div> Why Marbury?
They won't trade Marbury as long as Thomas is the GM/Coach there. He loves him way too much, and I really don't know why. Regardless, this almost seems like a horrid trade. I mean, you do get rid of the enigma in Steve Francis, freeing up space in your already crowded backcourt, but then by bringing him in, you might hurt the development of Channing Frye. For you guys, it almost seems like picking a lesser of two evils, and I don't know if KMart is the lesser.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting MrJ:</div><div class="quote_post">Why Marbury?</div> Well like francise more, idk why lol..started to hate marbury after this season. I think anyway francise got better first step and can put it down with either hand, better game all around.

But when we factor in his knees and his long contract, it doesn't make the deal as good. Like you said, getting rid of Francis would free up a lot of space in the backcourt, but it will fill in a void upfront. Martin would give us post defense and rebounding we need. Being a Bulls fan, you're probably familiar with Curry's biggest weaknesses being rebounding and defense. Those are all Martin's strengths. Plus with his history around the league, I'm sure there will be a few players who might have second thoughts penetrating into the paint. They know Martin isn't a soft player and won't hesitate to get aggressive. That's the toughness the Knicks need in the front court. Frye's development shouldn't be affected, it just means less minutes for Malik Rose and Maurice Taylor, two players who don't really fit into Isiah's coaching scheme anyway. You see, Martin fills in a need while Francis is more of a luxury if anything. He doesn't give us anything we don't have. He's an isolation 1-on-1 player who can get up and down the floor in transition. So if the Knicks need a couple of points in a drought, Francis might be able to get us a couple of baskets on a not so good FG%. Martin actually gives us something we need whereas Francis doesn't. The real negative about the trade is Martin's contract which still has a lot of years remaining on it. But the Knicks are in a financial situation that salary really doesn't matter. When Francis expires, they will most likely still be significantly over the cap. <div class="quote_poster">Quoting LBJ2006MVP:</div><div class="quote_post">Well like francise more, idk why lol..started to hate marbury after this season. Both of them had off years playing under Larry Brown, but are still capable of putting up 20 on any given night. Still Marbury is a much better point guard. He's been the most passive that he's ever been in his entire career. Sometimes to a disadvantage, actually. Francis is pretty much an undersized scoring guard. But he holds the ball too much. Many times, if you watch closely, you'll notice he has the ball in his hands for at least 5 seconds. That obviously takes away from the ball movement. If Marbury gets traded, we won't really have a solid point guard. I don't trust Francis to run the point for the team. I would prefer Crawford as my shooting guard instead of handling the ball.

Just say no to Kenyon Martin. I know Isiah is desperate but Kenyon Martin simply isnt the answer or not a very good answer anyway. He's constantly hurt, has a bad attitude and is arguably the most overpaid player in the NBA. I mean come on! I dont deny what he can bring to the table. Yes he'll give the Knicks what they need in defense and rebounding if he's healthy. But who wants to gamble on Kenyon Martin being healthy after he's had microfracture surgery on his knee? I'm sure there are cheaper options than Kenyon Martin. Options that are not only cheaper but healthier and wont turn into cancers when their unhappy. If we do trade for K-Mart they would definetely have to take Jerome James and exchange Ruben Patterson for Richardson to make it an acceptable trade. Anyway I think Isiah Thomas should be fired.
I would love to see Martin back in Jersey. But I think Martin would help the knicks with his toughness inside. He may be coming off surgery but that didn't hurt his game when he got injured with the Nets. He came back strong and was a big help in the Nets championship run. A Marbury/Martin combo would be a better situation for the Knicks than a Francis/Martin combo. Honestly I'm not a fan of Marbury or Francis but between the two, I think Marbury is the lesser of two evils. I think there will be a better understanding between Marbury and Martin. I don't think Marbury and Francis can co-exist.
if ever this trade will happen im not quite sure things would work out for the knicks. lets face it K-mart is like mourning. mourning's heart never left the miami heats and i think K-marts heart still belong with the nets. so for him to play inspired basketball for the knicks i dont think so. also remember he despise the knicks when he was playing for Jersey.

JW, how do buyouts exactly work? Can anyone buyout of their contract? Or is it situational? At this stage, I don't believe many teams are willing to take his huge contract. K-Mart should buyout if possible, making him more of an interest among teams.

There is absolutely no way the Nuggets are going to buyout Kenyon Martin. He's going to want every cent of his completely undeserved contract. I'm sure the Nuggets would rather send him home and keep sending his checks than pay him all of the money he's owed and let him play somewhere else. And I do believe you underestimate the power of Isiah Thomas's stupidity. No contract is too big or too long for Isiah. The Nuggets will most likely trade Kenyon here. The only reason why they havent yet is because their trying to completely and totally molest the Knicks by getting a pick or Frye or something else they shouldnt get. Anyway I think Isiah Thomas should be fired.
i think that francis needs to leave the team, but maybe martin wouldn't be a great choice. we need someone who is young and willing to put effort into the game, and besides we have frye, lee, balkman, and curry. so we really don't need a big guy anymore. we need a good clutch shooter, that can handle the pressure.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">we need a good clutch shooter, that can handle the pressure.</div> You got plenty of those. I think you guys need a good PF.
