I don't know if the Lakers are looking into finding a new play by play anouncer but they should... Ever since Chick passed I haven't enjoyed the same excitement in ball games that he brought with his "Chickisms" I didnt like Paul Sunderland and I dont like the new guy too much albeit he is better than Sunderland (monotone boring voice) do you guys have any ideas for a new play by play announcer?... This is the Lakers everyone should be trying to get this job right?
Well, of course our new play by play announcers aren't as good as Chick. Chick is a legend and THE best ever. I don't think there will ever be anyone like him ever again. Us Laker fans are really spoiled. We demand nothing but greatness, and that is the same with our play by play announcers. I don't really think the guys we have now are that bad. I mean, they aren't special or anything, but who else would you want to have the job? I know someone posted a link that had grades of every team's announcers. I'll see if I can dig it up.
I was thinking the same thing the other day.. Especially when I watch old Laker clips of our recent championship years. He brought so much to the game and like Brian said, there will never be another Chick. I like Stu, however. Him and Chick made an amazing combo.
Yeah Chick is irreplaceable and they knew that when they hired his replacement. Stu Lantz is a very good color commentator, he can make me laugh on quite a bit of his broadcasts.
Yeah, Stu makes me laugh all the time, sometimes on purpose and sometimes just being himself. His little remarks like, "SPLASSSSH!" lol, cracks me up.

Joel Myers was a terrible replacement for Chick. He has no insight to the game and has no emotion. No one is going to replace Chick, but I was hoping Kevin Harlan would take his place.

yeah I know its a paradox... I dont go for either one when they play eachother I just enjoy the game and Im not a bandwagon fan either I used to go to free Clippers game ever since they played in the Convention Center and what LA fan doesn't like the Lakers?

The best kind of announcer you can get is one that has a sense of humor, knows what they are talking about, and is not afraid to criticize the home team when they are in a slump or playing bad basketball.
I know that they're both color commentators, but I'd love it if they had Stu Lantz and Mychal Thompson doing all the broadcasts. They're both hilarious.
