<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Sasha:</div><div class="quote_post">I'm getting a MacBook for my birthday, in about two weeks. Excited as can be.</div> Word? I was planning on getting one too. Which one do you think is better black or white?
I'm sure Macs are better but when it comes down to it I know exactly what I'm doing on PCs and i'm way too lazy and broke to switch to a Mac. If I save some money up i'll probably try out a Mac but until then i'm fine with the PC.
I'm making the switch to a MacBook Pro + 23" Cinema Display in a month or so. Can't wait. And with new programs like Parallels and Boot Camp, I could always run Windows on it if the need ever comes up. If you're ever deciding between a Mac and a PC for college, I suggest sticking with whatever is popular is popular for your major/industry. If you're an engineer or a gamer, stick with PCs. If you're in graphics design, web design, music or any other creative subject, get a Mac.
I have a Mac Mini just to see what the mac was like. It's pretty nice, since you don't have to deal with viruses. I can't figure out how to access .wmv video files, so I can only play videos compatible with quicktime. Another bad thing is that you can't play any regular games you can play on PC now.

And for those talking sbout a macbook, my brother has a black one, and it is amazing.
you can play .wmv movies with windows media player. There are plenty of Mac versions out there. Here you go: http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/13112

I won't be able to try that site now, since I'm in New York, but I'm coming back soon.
After researching this subject more, I have decided to save up for a Macbook because it looks pretty sweet.
I don't own a mac so I can't say for sure which one's better, but I agree with this comic strip, its new advertising campaign is pretty lame. If they really want to be taken seriously, they shouldn't go the "hip and cool" route, it's become such a cliche. And people do need to realize that a lot of the PC's problems are a result of being so popular. They have more third party software developers so there's bound to more technical problems b/c a lot of the software may conflict with other ones. Advertisers also want to take advantage of the more popular system by cramming a bunch of crap down the users throats, hence all the trial software. And as already mentioned by the comic strip, the anti-virus problem PC's have is due to the fact that there are more PC users than Mac. Hackers who create these viruses want to focus their attention on the OS that has the most users.... they wouldn't want to waste their time trying to screw over a lesser population. You'll see that if or when Mac becomes at least as popular as PCs. They'll probably run in to the exact same problems. And being the more popular system also has its advantages of course. For one, the compatibility issues. Also, all the computer speciality stores in my area only carry PC parts and systems. Upgrading and building my own PC is a whole lot easier and a whole lot cheaper than doing it with a mac. That being said however, I still can't give a definite answer as to which one's better. I just want to remind ppl that the most popular system will always have a much greater chance at running into problems than the lesser popular ones.

All that focus on compatibility is great, but Microsoft has made it way too easy for these people to create these things. I could create a virus that will destroy your computer with the skills I learned in high school computer class. Macs are better with software licensing and such. That's why you won't see many homemade programs or cracks on Macs. The whole popularity thing is just a cheap excuse. If people could be doing that **** on Macs so easily, then they would.

And ms is still a powerful company, they're not gonna sit idly by while all this is happening. No matter how good an OS may seem, there's still gonna be flaws. There's no such thing as a perfect OS. People are mistaken if they think the main reason PCs have a lot of viruses is b/c there's way too may holes and not b/c of its popularity. Some people also have that exact misconception about Mozilla Firefox. People say it's safer than IE b/c it's less flawed, which is only partly true. The main reason it's safer is b/c more hackers prefer to spend their time messing up the most popular os, which is ie. Even Mozilla admits that.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting authentiq:</div><div class="quote_post">Word? I was planning on getting one too. Which one do you think is better black or white?</div> That's a pretty dumb question. It's the quality of what's inside the computer that you should be aiming for, not the color. BTW, they both are the same just different color. I'd definetely go for the Pro as Mel is getting but I have a fear that my parents will most likely turn that offer down. I'm looking to get a white one. I'm just mad that they don't have larger screens for the basic MacBook's.

Also, if you guys are planning on getting a MacBook Pro soon, hold off for another month -- faster chips from Intel just came out so there's a good chance the MBP's will get an update.
Silly people reviving old topics. I will use a Mac for computer art, other than that I dont want to be on one.
Please don't bump old threads Microsoft products really do suck but still prefer PCs to Macs. However i do hate quite a lot of Apple products and software as well, especially iTunes
