<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Chuck:</div><div class="quote_post">1.7 million a year for Detroit? He's better than Bogans We could've gotten em both and we'd be set. </div> Flip Murray's defense isn't good. We don't need 2 offensive minded players at SG when we already have Hedo starting at SF. Bogans will give us the defense, plus he can knock down open 3's when Dwight gets double teamed.
I would take Bogans before flip anyday. Flip scores alot but he shoots a low fg% which takes shots away from our core. With Bogans you know what your going to get and he knows his role.
Bogans was a clever signing, we knew exactly what we were getting. He's been a part of this arena before so he knows what he's coming into. Bogans is a straight replacement for Deshawn, although not quite as good in terms of ability I'd definatly say more solid of a player (DS is better at getting to the rim, but still miss's alot of easy shots, bogans has alot better range, more reliable close to the basket and very similar defense with the addition of better rebounding skills). Bogans was a "we know what we are getting" and wont upset the rotation we had. Theres also a chance that DS will just have to suck it up and come back to us for fairly cheap since no one is actually seemingly going in for him atm (think he has priced himself out of the market and shown that he doesnt have a huge ammount of loyalty since we put him in a starter role and he throws it in our face). Murray would have been nice I think if we had a different rookie (Brewer or Carney) but with Redick we have the shooter. That said at just over 1 mil, you cant really argue, if anything he would have been great to throw in a trade and get some real value for a SG.
I'm not a big fan of Flip. He is an offensive guy and we already have guys who can score. He is also undersized and we have our fair share of guards 6'3and under. We needed a defender and we got that in Bogans.
Besides I doubt we would have got Flip if we would have offered him 1.7 milion. He went to Detroit to win and it looks like he took less money to do it.
Redick or Bogans gets hurt-- what do you do? You could get Murray and Bogans for the amount of money they were WILLING to offer Stevenson that wouldn't hurt the cap, I'm fairly certain. Anyway, I just think we need another SG.

We didn't want to pay any free agents a lot of money this summer so that we can have our cap space for next season. Signing both Murray and Bogans to fill Stevenson's shoes would have been stupid if we could have just given the same amount of money to Stevenson.
