The offer, for the vets' minimum, would provide him less money than he made in Israel, however.</div> Source
Man, that's great news. I remember watching some highlights of him a while back; Saras and Baston looked like the Euro version of Kidd and K-mart. I don't know much about him, but it seems the NBA didn't work out for him in the past. It'd be great if somehow we'd be able to sign him, especially with Boone being out for a couple of months.
He's be a nice athletic guy at the PF spot for the Nets. He's quite small though, and I don't know how well his game will translate to the NBA. I remember him on the Raptors and he wasn't bad or anything.
The question is whether Baston would come over from Europe for less money. It's question that a lot of Europe's top players have faced recently, and most of them have shown that simply playing in the top league is not enough of reason. Players like Anthony Parker, Roko Ukic, Fran Vasquez, etc. have preferred Europe to a shaky spot in the NBA. I think the Nets will probably have to offer more to get him to come.
They also have to take on a smaller role on the team, and not be stars anymore, so it's not just monetary, even basketball wise it's tough for them.
no, i hate maccabi tel aviv, and i really don't like this for the nets. baston isn't even CLOSE to nba material. he's a bad rebounder, undersized, has no offensive game, is a really bad free throw shooter, basically all he can do is block some shots and dunk. he can't help us, basically.
