<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Carmelo Anthony has yet to play in an NBA All-Star Game. He was viewed as being on the bubble for one of the 12 spots on Team USA, which plays in the world championships in Japan next month.

But through the first week of practice here, he's being described by USA and Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski as "one of our key guys" and is expected to make the team - in fact, no one was making a bigger impression than the Nuggets' forward.

"Very consistent. Very focused," said Miami guard Dwyane Wade, the 2006 NBA Finals MVP. "He's been the best performer here."

Looks Like the Haters are wrong about Melo not making the team or being a solid contributor. I guess all it took was a coach who can understand talent a bit more like Coach K (Not Larry Brown) to see who this player really is.

I've always been angry that he didn't make the All-Star Game. I even thought he should have been Rookie of the Year over Lebron... I think Lebron's better now, but then I was rooting for Melo.

I'm very happy for Carmelo, it would be cool if he became their first option, and this is making me excited to see what he does next season.

He really deserves to be in All-Star game and hopefully next year, he'll be there.

I think he's the best clutch player right now, and I'm a Kobe fan, lol. It seems that everytime ESPN shows highlights of a down-to-the-wire game, Melo is making a game winner.

He has a knack for converting on shots in the closing seconds of games. But his overall performance in the final minutes of close games does not stand out.

If it's a tie game, and there's 2 minutes left on the clock, I'd take Wade, LeBron, Kobe, and many others before I take Carmelo.

Melo also has yet to have a really great playoff series. I beleive all his numbers have decreased in the playoffs, i'm sure he's hoping he's not the second comming of t-mac come playoff time.

I agree, people seem to equate game winning shots to overall crunch time performance, but Carmelo is nothing special in overall crunch time performance. I'd also take Gilbert Arenas, Michael Redd and Ray Allen over him for that.
