Most "DISAPPOINTING" Player To Wear The Raptors Uni Topic Speaks For Itself i guess ill star it off witht he player i regret us getting the most the one and only aging dinosaur himself HAKEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEM THE NIGHTMARE
I would say Olajuwon was the most disappointing. Even though he was nearing the end of his career, I thought he would at least contribute SOMETHING to our team. I had high hopes for that season (as everyone else did). Marcus Camby was disappointing due to the fact that he was injury prone. I was excited when we drafted him coming off his college player of the year award. Billups did not play to his potential when he was a Raptor. He was drafted very high out of college and I thought he would replace Stoudamire nicely. What about pleasant surprises? For me it would be Vince (never knew he had the potential watching him at North Carolina), and Villanueva (same thing as Vince).
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Chutney:</div><div class="quote_post">Corliss Williamson?</div> I don't think he was that disappointing. We just made the mistake of aquiring him in the first place. He didn't fit into our system that season. We needed someone quick and athletic and he was a half-court, post up player. Also, if I remember correctly, we played him at PF and he was undersized at that position. A couple of other disappointing players I thought of: Michael Stewart (gave him the big contract and he did absolutely nothing) and same thing applies to Lamond Murray.
I can't say Hakeem was disappointing because that year was the beginning of Vince's injury streak anyway and we were screwed after that. However, the only thing I remember from Hakeem's tenure with the Raptors was when he hit a fadeaway game winner vs. the Hawks in Atlanta and I just remembered everyone being shocked he made the shot, lol, which is really disappointing in itself considering he is one of the greatest centers ever. I think it was during that infamous 8 game winning streak or whatever it was that made us get into the playoffs against Detriot. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> Corliss Williamson? </div> I'd add him to my list, he didn't fit in at alllllll. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> What about pleasant surprises? </div> You should include this in your topic name as well (to the threadstarter) but for me it'd have to be: 1. Vince Carter Single-handedly turned me from an average basketball fan (well I was only 9 when the Bulls won thier last championship) to a basketball fanatic. Him and Kobe have always been, and always be my favourite. I used to imitate and I actually managed to learn almost every one of his Vince's moves and all and would practice them one a regular basis...and it really did help me out playing bball a lot. I still shoot my free throws in the same manner he did and it's easily the comfortable stance for me. 2. Dell Curry/Mugsy Bogues Both veterans thought to be "Washed up" I enjoyed both of them playing in Toronto and will never forget either of them. I used to love that Raptors team [1999-2000]. I still remember being the only team from the Eastern conference at one point in 1999 to beat the eventual champion Lakers on thier own home floor. But my favoruite memory was beating the defending champs Spurs in the ACC as Vince kept scoring at will and even dunked on D-Rob to score 39 points, a then career high. 3. Chris Bosh/Charlie V. The "new school" Raptors (as I like to refer to anything after the 2001-2002 season for the Raptors), both of them turned out to be greater then I expected. I didn't expect Bosh to be anything more then a supporting role to Vince, quite frankly, but I'm glad we have him, although for some reason I always doubt that he'll ever became an elite player to the level that Wade and Lebron have turned to. Charlie V....I knew he'd be good but not THAT good...runner-up for ROTY....not bad for a guy 95% of the people on this board were fussing about when he was drafted (if I remember correctly).
Jerome Moiso definately one of the most disappointing one. How about Yogi Stewart?? Raps paid him a lot for "potential" but was very disappointing. Mark Jackson? Chris Childs?
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Chutney:</div><div class="quote_post">Nate Huffman?</div> that was the worst lol. Rafeal Araujo's gotta be up there too, and also Chris Jeffries, what a waste. Wow, I don't believe no one said Chris Jeffries who was high on the court like every game and gave the smallest effort I've seen in my life.
I gotta agree with spy on this one. Haffa just plain ole's stinks. Had the guy had some actual basketball IQ he might be able to make something out of himself and salvage of what so far is a horrendous basketball career to date. But in his own defense, its not Haffa's fault he got drafted as high as he did. I blame Babcock for that. Had Haffa been drafted late in the 1st or earlier in the 2nd, I don't we'd be considering him as the team's most disappointing player because the pressure to perform wouldn't be anywhere as tough as it had over his first two seasons.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting azn_iverson:</div><div class="quote_post">lamond murray anyone?</div> He wasn't that bad, he sort of proved himself at the last season of his raptor career. I guess it has to be that big China centre. I forgot his name...it started with a B or N. EDIT: I remember now, I think it was Menge Bateer.
