<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">SACRAMENTO, Calif. (CP-AP) - Guard John Salmons signed a multi-year contract with the Sacramento Kings on Monday, just a few days after backing out of a planned deal to go to the Toronto Raptors.

Salmons averaged 7.5 points, 2.7 rebounds and 2.7 assists for the 76ers last season, playing all 82 games. The six-foot-seven swingman has been a steady contributor for the Philadelphia 76ers the last four seasons, and the Kings could use him at three positions next season.

''We feel he's still an emerging player in the NBA,'' said Geoff Petrie, the Kings' president of basketball operations. ''He'll add to the youth and overall skill level of our backcourt.''

The Raptors had negotiated a sign-and-trade with the 76ers, with Salmon reportedly agreeing to a $23-million US, five-year deal with Toronto before backing out. </div>

Well, so much for CK's scenario. We lose Salmons for nothing.

I guess this means Bonzi Wells will not be returning to Sacramento next season. That is the only reason I could see for Salmons choosing to become a King.

Wonder is he's getting anything close to what he was going to get before.

According to many from other King forums, he's getting the full MLE. If that's true, wow is all I have to say.

Dam, I didn't think he would have gotten more... Got lucky a team was still willing to pick him up for that much because they knew the Sixers or Suns didn't want him anymore.

You think he could of backed out of the last deal because the Kings gave that offer out of desperation [IMG]

Amen. Salmons really screawed the organization from getting the Raptors second round pick (which looks to be high) to absolutely nothing. Why would Billy King care? He's losing his job soon anyway...

Billy King probably canceled the Raptors deal since he doesn't want to pay anymore luxury tax for the 2nd rounder.
