Per team policy, financial details were not disclosed. “Fred Jones addresses our goal of infusing even more talent and athleticism to our revamped team,” said Bryan Colangelo, president and general manager of the Raptors. “He will benefit greatly from the up-tempo style we intend to play.” .</div> Heres the Link Full Story I think this is a way better deal than the Salmons one. I like Fred Jones better and we got him for so much cheaper.
Nice nice deal... not 5 years like before, and 3 is what everyone else got also. At 4 million a year this is a steal.
3 years and at less than 4 million, a steal. Seems like Jones' agent didn't get him a very good deal. Oh well, his loss is our gain
This works out GREAT for the raps imo. I would much rather have Jones for 3yrs then Salmons for 5. Cant wait to see him dunking in a raptors uni him and Mo on the court at the same time gives us a good pair of perimeter defenders. This is BC's first move that without question I am stoked about.

I do think this team has a lot of potential though. I'm excited for the season to start to see what we have here.

Me neither. He played well two seasons ago and he's good in small doses but we were in huge trouble when he decided he would add the drive to the basket move to the repetoire. That and his horrible defence. We don't have to watch Mitchell play him in crunch time anymore.
nice job, but i wouldnt say its a steal, at almost 4 mil a year, fred jones will have to improve to earn his contract imo. But, this does have the potentiaL to become a steal.

^^i know eh? whenever i saw bonner pump fake and start dribbling, id cover my face with my hands and peek through my fingers just waiting for the turnover lol course you just KNOW next season he's going to find his jump shot again and come to the raps and just KILL us lol. but more then likely he'll get buried on the bench...popp doesnt take kindly to the no defense playing types lol
on the subject of jones, he was supposed to be officially signed and introduced as a raptor at 11am today. iv been at work...anyone have raptors tv that can confrim this happend? *edit* yes...it happend. jones is official now: ps. iv edited your thread title and orginal post accordingly i just want to write this out and take a look at it: pg: tj ford/calderon sg: mo pete/fred jones/pj tucker sf: anthony parker/jorge garbajosa/pj tucker pf: chris bosh/andrea bargnani c: rasho/garbajosa/humphries (not sure who starts here) our phx of the east line-up pg: tj sg: fred sf: mo pete sf: bargs c: bosh providing our euro's turn out to be solid pick up's and can produce...parker and bargs in particular, id say we look a WHOLE lot deeper then last year...agreed?
You forgot Graham. Ford/calderon Peterson/Jones/Tucker Parker/Graham/Tucker Bosh/Garbajosa/Humphries Nesterovic/Bargnani/Humphries/Slokar I would say our team is much deeper than last year's.
oh damn! you're right! i knew i was forgetting someone. my bad. yeah...deeper for sure. man, i cant wait to see this team in action
We're almost too deep at sg/sf though. I think either Graham or Peterson is going to get traded. Most likely Peterson because his value is higher, plus, Graham fits better with our run-and-gun style and he's still got lots of potential. Maybe we can trade Peterson for a center who can run. Lorenzen Wright maybe?

Really, we aren't going to get equal value for Peterson, especially if we're trying to look for a center who can run and gun. Eventually we're going to see Bargs and Bosh together in the frontcourt, and trading Peterson would be pointless, even though he's an upcoming FA. Lorenzen Wright? Right...He's a FA btw. Who are the available centers that can run and gun in the league? Swift, whos more of a PF. I can't really think of any. SG/SF is a posistion of strength right now, but it's not like we have enough great talent there to let us trade our best wing player. I highly doubt trading Peterson will improve our team, especially for this upcoming season.
I love this deal and the fact that it was T.J. that talked him into coming into Toronto is awesome because that tells us that the Raptors are going to have great chemistry into the upcoming season. Awesome, awesome deal for the Raps.
