I hope the Raptors waive him. Hopefully, he can go to another team that will give him an opportunity to play because it doesn't look like he will have that here.

Well there are chances he might not.. since Toronto doesn't want to seem like "bad" employers just by cutting him.

Well, we've given him a long enough time to recover from his injuries. In the end, it's still a business.

The thing about that is he thinks he can play right now ... but we're not letting him because it would cost us money, so we want him to fail his physical. That's not to say if he did play he'd be effective, but he would be capible of playing on some level. Jack Armstrong reported on this a little while back. Apartently it's going to go to arbitration.

Well since we're only paying half of his salary if we waive, thats saving us over 3 million, then it's worth the move. BC has built the team to suceed without Alvin. I haven't even considered Alvin as part as a roster for the past few seasons because he's unreliable with his chronic knee and ankle injuries.

The Raps are only paying 3 million but it will still count 6 mill against the salary cap i believe.. So i think Raps are still losing out with the extra 3 mill counting against the salary cap.. but i dunno it's up to BC to pull the trigger.

Even if his full salary is counted against the cap, it still saves the team 6.75 million over the next two year.

Had the biggest heart of any Raptor, ever. Also, let's not forget he was an important role player on the 2001 team that made a playoff run.

    Good luck.

    Are you joking me????

I thought he was a solid offensive and defensive player. I didn't trust his shot completely until the 2001 season but I thought he was a great and very serviceable point guard. If it was not for him, we wouldn't gotten past the Knicks in the first round of 2001, he picked up the slack and became VC's partner in knocking down clutch shots.

    <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Raptors Release Alvin Williams

(July 26, 2006) -- The Toronto Raptors announced Wednesday they have released guard Alvin Williams. Per team policy, financial details were not disclosed.

“I have the greatest respect for Alvin Williams, both as a basketball player and as a human being,” said Bryan Colangelo, president and general manager of the Raptors. “Parting ways is simply something that needed to be done for this franchise and Alvin to both move forward.”

Williams has been sidelined by an injured right knee that has limited him to one game since March 19, 2004. He had microscopic surgery on the knee November 22, 2004 and arthroscopic surgery in December.

Williams was acquired from Portland on February 13, 1998 and is the club’s all-time assist leader with 1,791 and second in games played at 417. He averaged 9.3 points and 5.6 assists in the regular season and 12.5 points and 4.3 assists in 18 postseason games. </div>
