Seriously, after 2 years of watching Hoffa play (and they did give him time originally, he just lost his oppurtunity) the only thing I can see him contributing is 6 fouls and a pretty decent jumper from the top of the key. His toughness is not used in the right manner, he has very little athletic ability, and bad footwork to match it.

Not giving Hoffa PT is no excuse, we started him for over 30 games. I will miss seeing him play during blow-outs though, always good for a laugh. Absolutely love the trade. The only thing I wasn't happy about was not trading down in the draft, but it sounds like it wouldn't have really been possible.

Anyone remember that road trip a couple years ago in Hoffas rookie year? The two mini monster games he had versus the Lakers and Warriors? Ahh, those were the days...

Well supposedly the Warriors/Sonics had interest in him (both took centers, who are 5-6 years youngers i may add). I just regret taking. I bet you it was Grunwald that made the choice. He even predicted that the Raps would take him on the Score!

I still remember that dunk off of a rebound during the Lakers game, where he beat his chest afterwards. And then the next game he knocked J-Rich down hard and was ready to beat his ass down. What a wicked road trip that was.

The only thing I actually really remember about Hoffa is feeling sorry for the guy....especially last year. He would get boo'ed everytime he stepped on the HOME FLOOR and I always remember Jack saying he does put forth the effort but it's more so of a confidence problem for him, and that the fan's reactions weren't helping his situation.

I remembered that same game he got the ball in the post and took a shot only to completely miss the rim...which followed with a chorus of boos. I think he also had a pass thrown to him and he managed to lose that as well while the entire GTA muttered to themselves that they coulda had AI2 instead of this guy.

However, I also remember the times when he would sometimes (and this is like once in every 11 games) knock down a shot from the top of the key, at which point the entire building would explode cause everyone was surprised that HOFFA, of all people, made a shot.

You know it's never a good sign when Jack Armstrong sounds like hes CONGRATULATING a player when he makes his first jumpshot, even though it's in the 3rd quarter or in garbage time of a meaningless regular season game.

"Heyyy! There we go! The big fella made a shot! Good job Hoffa!"- Jack Armstrong (something along those lines)

^^ That is the sad reality to the legend that was Hoffa.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting deception:</div><div class="quote_post">(1) traded hoffa for humpries (maybe the greatest trade in raptor history as some jbb observers have noted) A+

    (2) traded bonner + eric williams for rasho (clearly e. williams had to leave and bonner was a medicore player on a horrendous team but rasho sucks. i was watching our game with the spurs last season and he had a hard time keeping up with the spur offense when nick van exel was running the point. and the 21 million left on his deal is a frightening scenario, brings back flashback of hakeem) F

    (3) drafting bargnani and pj tucker (bargnani is a star in the making but i think we have to wait a couple years from him to materialize and tucker looks solid) B-

(4)trading charlie v for tj ford (we needed a point guard and i think tj had the potential to be a top five pg whereas charlie v is content with being good) B

(5)signing anthony parker (this dude is going to win most improved player if he qualifies) A-

(6)signing garbosa (not bad, but we have a logjam at the 4, moreover, it mightbe a signal of bargnani being relegated to the end of the bench for the few seasons) C+

(7)signing fred jones (great fit, might be another candidate for most improved player) A+

(8)signing uros slokar (whatever, there were more capable guys on the market to sign, plus he should have been left over in europe to develop) C-

    GRADE: B-

the trade for rasho handicapps us cap wise plus elson was a much better fit. elson could have been had for 1.5 million a year.</div>

How can you say that, especially so early in his career? Saying that is just stupid, since Charlie V wanted to, and did improve over the season.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting deception:</div><div class="quote_post">i guess in cali u don't get raptors games. hoffa can't jump, he's slow, stupid and theres more... he can't play in the nba. a lot people here thought babcock didn't want to send him to the nbdl last season because of the salient fear that he couldn't make it there either.</div>

I know they don't show Raptors games here in Cali because they're not worth watching I guess [IMG] All I was saying was that the move wasn't an A+, it was pretty much trash for trash.

I actually think the rasho trade was one the best trades this offseason. He's been the Spur's starting center for the entire 03-04 and 04-05 season, and half the 05-06 season. The Spurs were at or near the top of the standings all three of those seasons. The value of a true legit 7' center is huge, though it may not be that obvious when you're watching the game.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting J_Ray:</div><div class="quote_post">How was trading Hoffa for Humphries a A+. You traded trash for trash, I don't get how you guys love that move.......</div>

I dont know if u know Humphries or not but he is WAY better defensively compared to Hoffa. WAAAAAAAAAAY Better plus he does not foul people every 2 minutes. Humphries could be the our best Defensive player downlow yes I think he could be better than Rasho because he is a tank like Hoffa but he knows how to use it, remember he was coached by Jerry Sloan.

wow this thread has freaked out as a referendum on the life & times of hoffa in raptor uniform which only validates my position that the hoffa trade is an A+.
