<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Rock4life:</div><div class="quote_post">Thanks for the spell check, but ur insane if you think the Rockets are anything but thin. Snyder might be athletic, but still hasn't even proven himself to the leage. Battier is indeed a good pick up. But when I look at the Mavs, Spurs, and even the Suns, they all have legitimate scoring threats comin off the bench. You know those teams never settle. For example, the Mavs are close to signing Devon George and attempting to aquire Kenyon Martin. This is a team that went to the finals and still have been CLEARLY more aggressive than we have in this offseason. You would think that they're the team coming off the terrible season.</div> Anytime, love. I am insane, as I do feel the Rockets are a bit on the fat side. . coming of summer and all -- it's expected, no? Snyder is nothing but a depth move, I am not arguing that. We agree on Battier. Yes, but we took a VERY similar Mavs team to 7 games. Yes, one can rave on about the contributions of Jon Barry, and Bobby Sura, heck even Wesley. And I know we're talking about the "NBA Finalists" but that's a load of nadda. Let them grab Kenyon Martin, and sit in cap-hell till 2010/'11. Dirk's gonna be wanting another contract extension, they're still paying off Finley's contract (2 more years). Not to mention the "second best center" in the league is making Juwan Howard money. A 29 year old Dirk, let's put another PF who is signed in a different decade. I'll take my chances in 3 years with a priming Yao (not to mention McGrady might still be a huge threat). The SPURS you say? High and mighty Tim Duncan and his achilles heal of doom! What have they really done? I'll go more in depth with my qualms with them sooner or later. The Suns situation is a bit different. I hate them, yet respect their players. They're a good team, but some Van Gundy defense and a new-look Yao can take them on. Yes, we're thin. I said we're GAINING depth. We're not a deep team. I never said I was happy with our offseason, I just said we'd suprise people. Our PG situation is fine, we have incredible depth their. Our SG spot looks shaky, unless T-Mac plays there (which I think he will). That's 40 minutes a game, we don't need a fantastic player to come off the bench. Battier fills the SF role. . we need depth there, no doubt. If he plays the PF, it's even better for us (though that leaves a HUGE hole). Juwan will do for now, I think he'll be shipped before the season begins. Yao is the best center in the league, hands down, bar none. He'd eat Shaq alive (even the playoff Shaq), on the form of last season. And he's only getting better. Who do you want, that is available? Novak is a good enough shooter off the bench. Spanoulis and JLIII provide depth at the 1. Where's a good SG? Trades are what's happening, and they don't come off the first week past the deadline (though it's been 3). Swift was a fodder, as was Anderson (asking for a buyout now. . LMAO), but this management, has been solid in terms of aquisitions that fit our team. Have faith. If someone is available, we're gonna go after them. And it's Devean George, not Devon.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Locke:</div><div class="quote_post">You knock on Kirk Snyder for being unproven, yet are so angry that we lost out on Rudy Gay? Why the double-sided treatment here?</div> I find this funny. I love how Rudy Gay has done nothing and some people were acting like he's the piece the team has needed to take them over the top. First of all I doubt he would've done anything very impactful his first 2-3 season for you anyways, at least not close to as much as Shane can. The most he would do early on is give defense, and Shane is already a far superior defender. The team needed extra shooting, and he doesn't bring that, while Shane hits about 40% from downtown. Really not sure about that one...
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Locke:</div><div class="quote_post">You knock on Kirk Snyder for being unproven, yet are so angry that we lost out on Rudy Gay? Why the double-sided treatment here?</div> Big difference. EVERY ROOKIE is unproven, being that they're ROOKIES. That's whole point of a NBA DRAFT, to get players with great potential with the hope they'll pan out to help ur team. Rudy Gay was everything we were looking for, long, quick, athletic, and a tweener that could player multiple positions. The upside on this kid was worth taking a risk on. If we were gonna trade him, we should've got a package back. We got one solid player, and gave up our most athletic player and draft pick. We could've got alot more in return, now we're stuck with the same problems. We're still slow, we're still old, we still can't guard the perimiter, we still don't have enough fire power, and we still don't have a real bench. We'll win a couple games, but the excuse that we're "playing for a championsip now, not later" is a very lame cop out. The Spurs played Tony Parker as a rookie, Ginobli, and Unrich. They still we're competitive and still developed their players. Why couldn't we do that same thing with Rudy Gay
