    Top players have nicknames, right? Ok then, who at one point during their career had a nickname on the back of their jersey instead of a last name?

    Is it a trick question, or was there actually an nba player who wore his nickname instead of his last name on the back of his jersey during NBA games?

    If there was such a player, I'm stumped.

    Have you seen Yao with a nickname on his jersey? I didn't know he even had a nickname. Lol, no it's not Yao. No, it's not a trick question. I have a video clip of this player with his NN on the back of his jersey. He did not play his entire carrer with the NN on his jersey, but for a few, yes.

    Want some more hints?

    His mom committed sucide during his 4th year in the league. (I'm pretty sure it was his 4th or maybe his 5th)

    Yao is his surname, or family name. If he was American, his name would be Ming Yao.
