Well, it's a boring offseason, but it's exciting in the sense that there are a lot of unknowns. Anything could happen. Speculation is all a basketball fan has until the season starts. There is, of course, historical data which suggests we could miss the playoffs again because we have the same frontline roster as '04. Also maybe similar teams like the '04-present Warriors also did poorly. I'm sure if enough statistics are recorded like in baseball, one can make an educated guess about what kinds of moves will dramatically improve a team in certain categories and in different situations.

I still think we're in a bit of reaching mode to avoid going into the season with the same roster. But this will be a true test of Mullin to just say, "no", if there's no great moves. I mean what good are lateral moves if they won't help out one of our offense/defense stat categories or add more intangibles.

Geez man. The Warriors boads may not have as many visitors as the Lakers, Bulls, Hornets, etc. but they do make up for it with the giant 3 paragraph posts.

True enough, but it doesn't really tell us anything. How about why do you think GS should keep Baron?

Some guys joke about my lengthy posts and other people's posts, but let's put it this way... It's better to be descript than just leaving a lot of questions unanswered or leaving audience members wondering where the person's ideas are coming from. Otherwise, we can't relate and we'd have nothing in common to communicate with.

Also, one thing I like about this forum is that it's more about post-mortum analysis and observations rather than play pretend general management over future moves and over-speculating those potential moves. I mean that's one thing I look for is, how can we learn from our mistakes so we don't repeat them and how can we avoid getting into a Tim Kawakami style approach to solving problems? I like certain bold statements or hunches if they are interesting and only if there are some reasonably strong evidence to believe the bold statements are more true than they are false. There's always two sides to everything, so I think posters on this forum can be as right as anybody as long as they spell out where they are coming from so the rest of us have an idea. And as long as they aren't forcing certain ideals down people's throats. I might have been guilty with these sort of things to REREM, Warriorsfansnc93 and Run BJM, but I try not to. [IMG] I really don't want to scare anybody off or annoy them to death. I try to respect all opinions and basketball beliefs, but it's more helpful to me if they can get me to relate in some way so that I understand. That requires writing well thought-out posts so that a variety of audiences of different backgrounds, can understand the logic.

I think many of the posters from this board, do a great job in their communicating and they aren't stringent over differing opinions. Again, I might not be setting the best example as a user, but that's why I tell guys to let me know if my posting is annoying people.

^ So much for having lengthy paragraphs, eh?[IMG]

Baron is the guy that will make or break this team... I can see him being traded if he remains injured, but that also means that he'll potentially be traded for spare parts again.

    Fair enough.

I think you should keep Baron for a number of reasons. It doesn't happen frequently that you come across a PG that can play decent D, can pass(avg. 7.1 apg), and can score. Baron isn't exactly explosive but he has hops and can drive into the lane when he is healthy enough, as well as an outside shot. Add on to that that he isn't exactly a selfish player and you have J-Rich on the team. I think a backcourt of Davis and J-Rich can be a deadly 1,2 punch in later years. I honestly think Baron and/or J-Rich isn't the problem on your team, nor is Troy Murphy. I think who should be in trade rumors is Foyle and Dunleavy not Baron.

I wasn't joking about your lengthy posts at all. Don't get me wrong, its better to have something to read and analyze than to read and wonder. What I don't really enjoy however is coming in and seeing a 3 page thread with posts that are at the max character limit. [IMG]

I agree with you (I imagine most every Warrior fan does) that GS should keep Baron and JRich and instead trade Foyle and Dunleavy. The problem is nobody is calling Chris Mullin saying "Yo Mully, any chance that Adonal Foyle is available?" Foyle is about as likely to be traded as LeBron or DWade, just for opposite reasons.

I also agree that the backcourt of JRich and Baron is a deadly 1-2 punch, however I disagree with your assessment of Baron. I don't think he plays good D, although he does cause alot of turnovers and gets steals by overplaying. You're right on that he has hops and can drive the lane. However, you say he's not explosive -- IMO he's one of the most explosive players in the game when healthy. Dude's 6 foot 3 and can dunk over 7 footers. There's a clip of him going shimmy shake with the dribble and then -- in traffic -- elevating and dropping mad trow on Jermaine O'Neal's chrome-dome. That play was about as explosive as a stick of dynamite. He's power mixed with quickness and -- again, WHEN healthy -- Baron Davis is a live wire. However, he doesn't have a good outside shot.

Thanks for elaborating, and hopefully GS can keep Baron and JRich and trade Foyle's candy a$$. We're all crossing our fingers here in Warriorland.

LOL [IMG], I laughed pretty hard on this.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting AlleyOop:</div><div class="quote_post">I don't think he plays good D, although he does cause alot of turnovers and gets steals by overplaying</div>

Well I think he harases the ball handler pretty well and can atleast stay infront of his man 70% of the time. That isn't extrondinary D but its pretty good. No emphasis on the pretty or good, just pretty good, he isn't as refined as J Kidd or many others but atleast he can play D which is hard to find in a lot of PG's nowadays(Smush Parker, Chucky Atkins, Marcus Banks, etc.).

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting AlleyOop:</div><div class="quote_post">However, you say he's not explosive -- IMO he's one of the most explosive players in the game when healthy. Well this is my bad then, I don't watch GS ball excuslively and whenever I do watch him he isn't in his healthy stints so I am just basing this on my "Whenever I watch him" type assestments. Again when he is healthy he is explosive, but I've hardly seen him healthy so again my bad. This isn't to say I haven't seen him throw it down or anything, Darvin Ham [IMG]. Anyway I take that statement back of him not being explosive as you don't and shouldn't measure explosiveness by dunking, its getting to the rim as well even if its a layup. So yes I agree he is explosive.

    <div class="quote_poster">Quoting AlleyOop:</div><div class="quote_post"> However, he doesn't have a good outside shot.</div>

I concur, having a career .327 3pt shooting isn't exactly bad. He isn't a Peja, Kyle Korver, or Dirk type shooter but atleast you know he can make it. He has shot 1260 and made 407 ,for .323 shooting, from the arc over the past 3 years, so I'd say he can shoot from outside.

Just wanted to add something about Davis. When healthy, when he gets his man on a 1on1, NO ONE CAN STOP HIM! He's got the illiest moves ever! Hope he has a healthy up coming season. He's a cool dude no doubt.

    Oscar Robertson

(that was supposed to show up quoting) in response to a scoring PG who went all the way.

Ah,a summer of Forensic Basketball. Slice open the stiff and see what did him in.[IMG] ..just like on TV. I think it was Colonel Monty in the Study with The Monkey Wrench.[IMG]

I LIKE how you go into depth,Custodian-but if you are covering a lot-I prefer it broke into a couple of segments. Otherwise I have to take notes, backtrack, and re-read the section I was gonna respond to. Probably I get lengthy too...but what I do is[IMG] stick[IMG] a few more smilies in. Them little dudes jumpin around always help my attention span[IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

One of the several reasons I like the uptempo mode is that Baron is dynamic, thrives on creating at full speed-but needs room to operate. When the D was given a 10 sec head start to jam it in-they forced the W's into perimeter shots-knowing we'd miss plenty. The alternative-drive into a crowd. Pietrus had the balls to do it-and now he's called a dummy. Baron had the balls too-got a lot of cheap shots-wound up injured.

We need early offense. We need a high efficiency MIDRANGE game. If Murphy-Zarko-Dun CAN hit some 3's-I'd think they could pop 15 footers at a nice %.

Amazing but true- Biedrens was near 65%,Ike about 53%..yet Dun shot almost as many THREES as their combined FGA. Dun hit 28% from 3. Stevie Wonder could do that well.[IMG] A coach MUST take note of that kind of crap-correct it or else. Sure,Dun SHOULD be hitting 35% at least, and shooting fewer 3's. If he does not get that-a COACH must COACH..must draw a line-or sit the guy-or figure why his shot's gotten worse.

Same applies to other issues. Some years back-Murphy got told-be careful about fouls-you get in foul trouble and you gotta sit.[IMG] He also was told to work on his 3,take 3's to stretch the D. Pull bigs away from the lane. It took him over a year and a half to tell Murphy he could back off on the 3's. Now-with Ike on hand-Murph can get aggressive on D,again. But Monty has to do his job and tell guys to do things however it has to be.[IMG]

Everytime I think a lot about "fixing" the Warrior's-it comes back to the same common thought-If this is so obvious-why-after 2 years has the coach not changed it? Monty-at his slow pace-has changed some things. Others-the thing I see as a PROBLEM-I suspect he is actually TELLING the players to do that.[IMG] Pretty scary.

Monty says-before camp,preseason-Adonal Foyle is the starting CENTER. What more could I add to that.[IMG]
