<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The Dallas Mavericks agreed Tuesday to a two-year, $4.2 million contract with Devean George, bolstering their defense with a three-time NBA champion capable of competing for a starting job. George was headed to Dallas for a physical that would seal the deal, which included a player option for the second season. "He's exactly what we were looking for, a hard-nosed, playoff-tested, defensive-minded winner," said Donnie Nelson, Dallas' president of basketball operations. "The market is a little bit soft this summer for whatever reason and we were flat-out lucky to get him." George was on the league champs his first three seasons, coming off the bench for Los Angeles Lakers teams led by Shaquille O'Neal and Kobe Bryant. He's remained a key rotation player in Los Angeles for the last four years. An ankle injury limited him to 15 games two seasons ago, when the Lakers missed the playoffs. He played 71 games last season, averaging 6.3 points, 3.9 rebounds and almost a steal per game in 21.7 minutes. That's slightly more productive than Adrian Griffin was as a starter for Dallas last season. </div> link: http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news;_ylt=Ajzu...ov=ap&type=lgns
Another nice pickup for the Mavs, and the length of the deal is just right. We are really making every stride to become more hard nosed team that can get over the hump and win a championship. This is exactly what we needed; a low-key, productive offseason.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting THE DREAM:</div><div class="quote_post">Devean George is a good role player, but when will he see minutes?</div> I see him fitting in behind Josh Howard. Buckner will get some time there when Ager develops, but George can get time there in my opinion. The trade of Daniels for Croshere opens that up
Its a very good pick up. He played for my Lakers during the Championships so he has Playoff experience. Though he can be very inconsistent, he should work well in Avery's up-tempo style.
A perfect shoe-in for Marquis and he`s a vetren that can play some decent D and can shoot the ball. Another solid role player for the Mavs too.
Great pick up by the Mavs. George will be a big factor off the bench. Can play 2 positions, good "D" and can easily start for other teams. If it wasn't for his injury, he could have improved more the past 2 seasons.
Nice pick-up for the Mavericks. He hasn't had a big role lately in his years with Los Angeles, but he could really light it up in Dallas.
Nice signing indeed. Adds a 3 time champion with solid finals experience and knows what it takes to get there. Maybe he can help push the team that extra 10%. I hope this doesnt limit Agers minutes by too much, I dont think it will, I think the Mavericks are banking on his defensive precense to help them out alot this season.
This may hurt Ager's minutes in the beginning, but im sure he will make the most of his minutes and work his way into the rotation at around the 30 game mark this season. I keep forgetting George is only 29. This signing looks better every time i examine it
