Are we gonna sign him? He seriously deserves to be signed. He's got the tools to be a good spark off the bench..and can even log in some minutes at the PF position if he bulks up a little bit, since he played some PF at LaSalle. I really, really want him signed. Thoughts? Plus..If I recall, I was the first one in the Sixers forum that had him as our 2nd round pick before the Nailon trade.
You never know these days with Billy King holding down the GM position... I'm with B22 (aka Air Fresh [w/e]) on this one: Sir Charles for Sixers GM!!! As Billy King's last move he should hire Barkley as the GM and then fire himself
My question is, why wouldn't Billy King sign him? We have made absolutely no improvements via free agency, so obviously the reasonable choice is to sign Steve Smith, but Billy King isn't reasonable. He defines all odds of logic. Anyways, didn't Smith also play in the Vegas League with the Warriors?
It’s Steven Smith’s choice where he wants to go we can make him an offer, but he is not obliged to sign with us from what I hear he has at least a half dozen offers on the table from various NBA teams and is weighing his options.
I think if we offered him a reasonable contract he would sign with us, its his hometown and I remember him saying that he would enjoy playing for his hometown Philly. Seven is probably looking at other options because King isn't seriously trying to sign him. If King wanted to get a deal done he would, I don't know what King is doing.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Air Fresh:</div><div class="quote_post">If King wanted to get a deal done he would, I don't know what King is doing.</div> He's wasting all his time trying get some trade offers for Allen Iverson even though no team is interested. He has basically wasted the whole free agency signing period, and he said he won't use the MLE so he can save some luxury tax. So for god's sake, just sign Steve Smith you ****ing failure!
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Air Fresh:</div><div class="quote_post">What does the MLE have to do with luxury tax?</div> We are over the salary cap, so if Billy King signs someone to the MLE, it means he will have to pay more luxury tax.
Smith would likely get the minimum from the team which does end up signing him second round picks only back about 444,000 during the course of their contracts. It more about Smith choosing what is the best situation for him (career wise).
