Hurry. Go to ESPN and go to the NBA section. What do you see as their "cover story?" Do they have to make a big deal out of every little thing Kobe does? "Kobe's WE Problem." Wow, give me a ****ing break! Read this:

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Kobe Bryant's choice of pronouns was somewhat revealing Tuesday as he made his first appearance with Team USA.

He didn't sound like a member of the team, even though he technically still is one.

Bryant watched from the fifth row of the stands as the American team played its first scrimmage against another national team, looking especially sharp defensively in defeating Puerto Rico 116-82 behind 23 points from Carmelo Anthony and 20 from LeBron James.

For most of the game, Bryant was seated with team director Jerry Colangelo and agent Rob Pelinka, and he did not interact with the players on the bench during the game, in the locker room prior to tipoff, or on the court following the final buzzer.

"The waves with which they play [are] something that's amazing and fun to watch. They come at you in waves, and it's non-stop, the pressure they put on full court," Bryant said. "The quick hands, the quick feet that they have, one through five out there on the court, everyone is extremely athletic and physically gifted. They're all playing well together, doing well defensively. I think defensively is really their area of emphasis."

For those keeping score, that answer included six references to "they" and its variants, zero references to "we."

Bryant's comments were his first public statements of the summer, coming nearly three weeks after he underwent what was termed as "minor" knee surgery to clean out scar tissue and "impingements," as Bryant described it.

The news of Bryant's surgery came as a shock to Colangelo and coach Mike Krzyzewski when they learned of it just three days before camp was to open, and some had questioned why Bryant waited until mid-summer to address the problem.

"It's been there all season, but it was something we didn't think was anything that was going to linger," Bryant said. "I had knee problems in the past and just played through it, and once I played through it, it felt great. This summer I started my training regimen, and the knee just wasn't getting any better. We had to take a look at it and found out we had to do a little tweak."

A tweak? Not many people call surgery a tweak.

"It wasn't like I had to repair a damaged ACL or anything like that. But you've been in this league for some time, you've got some issues going on with your knee that need to be addressed," Bryant said. "So I had to go and take care of that.

"We didn't really know it to be something that required surgery until we were into the summer. It was one of those things that just continued to linger, and we jumped on it as early as we could."

Bryant, Paul Pierce (impending elbow surgery) and Lamar Odom (death of his infant son) were the only three members of the 24-man national roster who did not make it to training camp, and Bryant was the first of that trio to make an appearance.

When news of Bryant's surgery was first released, the announcement said Bryant still planned to travel with the team to China, Hong Kong, South Korea and Japan. But those plans have changed.

"Mr. Colangelo and Coach K both thought it would be best for me to stay back and take care of my situation since it's a three-year commitment, making sure I get completely healthy to go next summer and hopefully in the '08 Olympics," Bryant said.

Colangelo was quick to point out that Bryant is likely to join the team at some point when it gets to Japan for the World Championship, but only because he'll be doing promotional appearances there for Nike.

The first day we'll finally see Bryant in a USA jersey (he had to withdraw from the team in 2003 and 2004) -- and the first time he'll call the team "we" instead of "they" -- will remain undetermined for at least another year.

    </div>

[IMG] [IMG] Wow! Just wow! I can't believe some people would write this crap. Seriously. So what if he refers to Team USA as THEY, instead of WE. Maybe it's because he hasn't even practiced with the squad yet. It's just a little mistake, and ESPN puts it on their front page and acts like it's a huge deal. Seriously though, go check ESPN.com. This crap is just unbelievable. [IMG]

Just shows how the media starts crap about anything and everything.

If Kobe said "We", they probably would have made up BS about how he thinks its HIS team and that he refers to the team as WE and gives no credit to the other players.

    ESPN sucks.

did you hear that article about how coach K said that he just wants them to play the best they can or something like that. and they wrote a whole article saying that it was the wrong choice of words and because of the wrong choice of words they weren't gonna be any good

Pretty soon Slam is going to come out with an article about how Kobe was really trying to say he wants to be in Atlanta.

Wow, people at ESPN must be really desperate to pump out NBA articles if their publishing garbage like that. Who cares what he calls the team right now. If you want to be technical, he's not even a part of the team. Is he on the 15man roster right now? Nope. Therefore, he's technically not part of the team, therefore, what's the big deal about calling them "they" instead of "we".

Exactly - for him to say "we" would be dumb, cause he's not on the active roster. There's definitely an effort to create drama in the NBA out of nothing. Kobe might not be mr. pass first but so what that's probably not his best function, they're trying to make him into a T.O. which is ridiculous.

What a bunch of crap, the media is so full bs most of the time. I thought ESPN was on a higher level than that. To make a big stink about it is stupid.

This story makes absolutely no sense to publish.... There are better stories out there that need to be written not crap about using "we" instead of "they" This story provides no benefit for the reader, but if this Team USA we have right now is classy and good then they will look past this.

    "ESPN swing and a miss."
    Nice try.

Yeah, I just sent a letter to him. I really hope he reads it, it won't do anything, but I just want him to get as much hate mail for this stupidity as possible.

Chris Sheridan is an annoying little snot.

In his first chat on ESPN.com, he had an incredibly insulting tone. That he'd act that way right out of the box when you should be trying to make a good impression indicates what a jerk he is.

On another note here, I'm sure if Kobe were to have said "we", ESPN would have been all over him for that, claiming the opposite of what they are now. Something like, why are you saying "we" when you're not even on the roster.

BSPN was probably on this writers ass to pump out an article to publish.

In all honesty, half of the worlds problems are created by the media themselves and why? To make money, just like any other business. [IMG]

I can just imagine that right now:

Kobe says "we" instead of "they." Why did he mention "we"? Kobe isn't even on the team. It's a 15 man roster, and he isn't on it. I don't care if he is injured, he isn't on the roster, so for him to say "we," it's just plain ignorant. Everybody knows Kobe is a great talent, but I for one hope he doesn't make it on the Olympics roster because the guy is just selfish. Why mention "we" when you aren't even on the squad? Kobe is just plain ignorant and selfish. Is he thinking just because his name is "Kobe" he will automatically get a spot on the roster? No. Roster spots are earned, and not issued out by name. Blah Blah Blah Kobe sucks Blah Blah Blah Kobe is selfish Blah Blah Blah I am Chris Sheridan Blah Blah Blah
