The Wolves made Reed, who was acquired in the seven-player January trade that sent Wally Szczerbiak to Boston, a qualifying offer on June 30 and had the right to match any contract offer made to him by another team.

In 40 games with Minnesota after the deal, including six starts, Reed averaged 6.3 points, 2.4 rebounds and 17.7 minutes. He provided some reliable energy and athleticism off the bench.

"Justin showed us that he is a tough competitor on both ends of the floor last season," vice president Kevin McHale said. "He is a player who can defend and has a nose for the basket."</div>
