Isn't that pretty much the same thing that's being run in Phoenix?

Each system was essentially the same, relying heavily on offense, as Dallas was tops in the leagues at that time, and little to no emphasis on defense. The only difference is that Nash is given the ball a lot more in Phoenix and the offense is running through him. In Dallas, it ran through Dirk and Finley.

^^Thats the main difference. In phoenix nash si teh distributer, in dallas, he was jsut part of the offense, whoever got the ball ran with it in dallas. So, his assists, and playmaking abilities were hidden. His scoring ability was always apparent, in both systems, but his passing ability really only shown in the phoenix system, were he was the distributer.

Dallas did more one on one focusing on mismatches, in Phoenix Nash dominates the playmaking as a drive and dish guy. Also his last few years in Dallas it's not like he wasn't a Top 5 PG in the league, and to many people he was the 2nd best PG in 03-04 behind Kidd. His numbers also didn't look as good as some other guys because he played onlya bout 33-34 MPG. If you look at his PER 40 numbers in Dallas his last three seasons there:

    20.7 PPG | 3.6 RPG | 8.9 APG | .602 TS%
    21.5 PPG | 3.5 RPG | 8.8 APG | .576 TS%
    17.3 PPG | 3.6 RPG | 10.5 APG | .590 TS%

I'm just saying this because Marbury, Cassell, Baron and Kidd the main comparisons were all playing about 38-40 MPG or close to it (except for Cassell), so their numbers looked nicer, but he was producing just as much, and really has basically been the best scorer after Cassell when you take efficiency into account. Obviously there's the defensive part, but only Kidd and Baron back when he was healthy on the Hornets defended. Marbury has never really done much in terms of defense, and Cassell and defense aren't really on the same page.

Just to see the comparison of those same three years in terms of PER 40 numbers:

    Marbury:
    21.0 PPG | 3.3 RPG | 8.4 APG | .519 TS%
    22.3 PPG | 3.2 RPG | 8.1 APG | .520 TS%
    20.1 PPG | 3.2 RPG | 8.8 APG | .519 TS% (Nyk/Pho)

    Kidd:
    15.8 PPG | 7.8 RPG | 10.6 APG | .484 TS%
    20.0 PPG | 6.7 RPG | 9.5 APG | .526 TS%
    16.9 PPG | 7.0 RPG | 10.1 APG | .485 TS%

    Baron:
    17.9 PPG | 4.2 RPG | 8.4 APG | .498 TS%
    18.1 PPG | 3.9 RPG | 6.8 APG | .500 TS%
    22.8 PPG | 4.3 RPG | 7.5 APG | .492 TS%

    Cassell:
    22.4 PPG | 4.8 RPG | 7.6 APG | .545 TS%
    22.8 PPG | 5.1 RPG | 6.7 APG | .565 TS%
    22.6 PPG | 3.8 RPG | 8.3 APG | .566 TS% (Min)

Now part of the reason Nash didn't play as much as them is because he didn't have the stamina to do so. His minutes didn't go up in Phoenix either, his body can't take playing so much every game, but when he's on the floor, they weren't really outproducing him unless they were defending too, which is why Kidd was the best PG in the league till 03-04. 04-05 he didn't play the whole season, so that kinda lost him his ranking. As you can see he was already the second best passer after Kidd, and even beat Kidd in 03-04 in terms of PER 40 APG, and he was by far the most efficient scorer, decent in rebounding (he beat Marbury at least), and arguably the second best scorer because of efficiency (which is what makes him beat Steph).
