I pilfered this from the espn board, so those of you who frequent that board have already seen it. video It's a street ball video that shows Arenas going down to one of the rougher sections of D.C. to play in a street ball tourney. I love the guy because he's one of the most unique professional athletes I've ever seen. Really, what top tier NBA player can you see going to the hood with no entourage, playing ball, then hanging out for god knows how long to sign autographs and talk to every single person that wants to talk to him? I remember stories of Arenas going to play pick up games at Skyline high when he was with the Warriors. Yeah he does things that don't seem to make sense (going to take a shower in his uniform at halftime) or are maddening (not taking a shot until the last five minutes of a game because he was miffed), but when I watch something like this video, any on court problems I have with him immediately go away. He just seems so unaffected by money and fame, I just find him both fascinating and refreshing. The only other guy I can think of who is anything like Arenas is Dennis Rodman. They're both guys who just think differently than 99.9999999% of professional athletes. They're eccentric, extremely driven, not affected by fame or wealth the way other people are, and have far exceeded anyone's expectations, except their own, since entering the league. Now whereas Arenas is eccentric, I think Rodman has some bigger issues, but they still have that same unique quality that comes across in this video. Watching it just makes me want to root for Arenas all the more. I don't care if he's not a Warrior any more, he's always going to be one of my favorite players because of the person he is.
You'd love him even more if you're a Wizards fan since he's putting up 29 PPG now and is an extremely efficient scorer.
Got to love the fact the CBA made a new rule for him regarding second round picks. Ha espn, who goes there anymore?

I know I've rooted for the Wiz for the past couple of years because, if nothing else, they have proven that the Warriors of 3-4 years ago could have made the playoffs if they were in the East.

There are a few guys over there that I'd like to get over here. It was nice to read that when people get frustrated with the technical problems on that board and ask for another place to post, people who don't even post over here suggest jbb.com and complement the intelligence of the posters here. Reading that board does make me pine for the old regulars on that board that aren't there anymore, like NewWarriors, Trueblood, and rmra1. I've asked Custodian this, but does anyone know where those guys went to?
NW lurks around and he posted like couple times in last season. I haven't seen TB anywhere for last few years, and I think I saw rmra1 in Wiz board. Man, there used to be a time when ESPN board was one of the most intelligent board. Sure, we had occassional trolls and tons of dumb trade proposals. But, many people know what they talk about and they were pretty much polite to people unless provoked. Then, people started to leave and now there is dumb 1,500 words limit, which gives a blank post with more than 1,500 words. I mean, it will take 10 posts for Custodian to write an introduction! Hope JBB can absorb remaining few good posters...

If only Arenas was at least 6'4 with a long wingspan. He'd make a bomb shooting guard. Man it just sucks to watch Jamison and Arenas as members of the USA team and we got nothing to send. They want guys who can shoot. Our best guys don't shoot very well.
Well, we have Dunleavy...'s college coach. We had tons of former Warriors with All-Stars and stuff, but is this the first time with Olympic team? Hopefully, we will see Richardson in next 3 years.

Didn't Gilbert Arenas play in the summer in San Francisco at Kezar with a bunch of other people in that adult league? I believe he and Jason Richardson and Adonal Foyle played there. Gilbert's a pretty cool guy. He's a good competitor.
I will always root for this guy, I loved watching him in a Warriors jersey though. I remember watching him live for the first time and I knew he was gonna be something real special.
