<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">New York Daily News - While Vince Carter can opt out of his contract after this coming season, he has given no indication that he'll do so. Asked yesterday if he could see himself staying with the Nets for the rest of his career, the star swingman said, "Of course. I enjoy it here. It's all about being happy, and I'm happy here." Carter could play out his deal, which calls for $15.1 million this season and a $16.3 million player option in 2007-08. But Carter's best chance at maximizing his value could come by opting out. </div> Link
It's the best move for him in both the business and basketball views. He'll get a shot at the bigger contract somewhere else and if he goes to a team like Orlando then he'll be one a better team and a year or so after that he may contend for a title.
If Carter leaves and the chances are very high, it's going to be awful for the Nets. They might be able to sign and trade him but it's not like we will get a player but that is on the level of Carter. There is that other possibility that Kidd will request a trade if Carter isn't back.
