<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">DeShawn Stevenson rejected a three-year deal from the Orlando Magic worth $10 million last month.

Now, the free agent guard who wanted a four-year deal, is settling for a two-year deal at the league minimum to play for the Washington Wizards .

The deal includes a player option for next season making it very likely Stevenson will be a free agent again next season.

Stevenson's new agent Mark Bartelstein says their just wasn't a lot of money left out in the market.

"There just isn't much money left out there," Bartelstein said. "This gives DeShawn an excellent opportunity to play significant minutes on a very good team. I think by next summer, the rest of the league will see his real value and he'll earn back the money he lost."</div>

Edit- Posted it in the wrong forum sry. It does relate to the Magic though.

DeShawn Stevenson was the best thing to happen to the Magic since Penny Hardaway.

He shoulda stayed. Serves him right. I wish him the best of luck, but he didn't realize how great of a situation he had in Orlando, until he left.

DeShawn Stevenson's name will no longer be mentioned in this forum.

The Greedy SOB, Backstabber, and that one guy are all acceptable replacements.

Dude guys. He's getting what he deserved. He was greedy, so now he's going to be making just over 2 million less than what he would have made if he didn't opt out. I don't understand all the hate for him.

Because we treated him well, we started him, and we tried to keep him. He asked for tons of money and wouldn't budge and then signs the minimum. He treated us terribly.

I don't think so. Stevenson is most likely playing a huge role off the bench. His biggest competition is probably Hayes, but he struggles to stay healthy for the past few seasons he has been in the league and the next most capable guard out there is probably Donnell Taylor. I'm not too sure about Jared Jefferies either, since I believe he did sign an offer sheet to New York.

I liked Stevenson, he was probably my favourite player on the Magic, but its a shame that he had to take the asshole route and got screwed over in the process. It's not like he's a bad person or anything, a lot of players in the NBA would do the same thing if they were placed in the same situation.

He treated us? You are acting like we are the ones that are screwed by Stevenson. Do you really think that Stevenson had planned to lose over 2 million dollars to sign with a division rival? I sure as hell don't. He was the one that got screwed, not us. He did screw himself though. We got Ariza and Bogans for the contract that Stevenson wanted.

If he really wanted to sign with the Magic, then he would have. Instead it's him who will never get a big payday now that got screwed. So instead of making $3 mil and starting for the Magic he's going to make under $1 mil and likely come off the bench(which he absolutely hates-remember from the Johnny Davis years) for the Wizards. Tell me which situation was better? It's his fault not ours.

I don't know, maybe he wants more exposure and maybe he'll find that in Washington. By the end of his contract, he'll be offered a lot more money, if he does his share for the team.

What the hell are you guys talking about?
    Gators knows what's up

DeShawn was greedy, and karma acted very quickly

    He gets $934,000

Do you realize Joel Pryzbilla gets $6.5 mil a year?

It still pisses me off that we could still have him but he was selfish and wanted to much money.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">DeShawn Stevenson must feel like a guy who stood in the rain for hours, waiting for a bus that never came.

Or worse yet, the guy whose dog mistakenly ate the winning Lotto ticket.

He won't sleep very well this season.

He got greedy, and he paid dearly.

As a free agent last month, Stevenson rejected a new three-year, $10 million contract to re-sign with the Orlando Magic, sure that richer offers were waiting just around the corner.

    Turns out, there were none.

He isn't the first NBA player who miscalculated his worth and got slapped in the face for it, but he is the latest and another glaring example of a young man getting bad advice.

It's not like the Magic gave him a quick take-it-or-leave-it offer July 1 when the free-agency period began. Magic General Manager Otis Smith waited on him for days, asking him repeatedly whether he was sure. Are you sure? Are you sure you don't want this before we go in another direction?

He was so sure a better offer was coming.</div>

Decent article about Stevenson and what he did.

Be very careful of what your agent tells you... Remember he gets a percentage of the cut, so course he is going to tell you to holdout for bigger deals... Well you chose the wrong door my friend and your agent cost you millions...
