Kansas Rock, chalk, Jayhawk! They will be rocking and rolling in Lawrence as Bill Self's team is loaded. 4. Ohio State Thad Matta needs a healthy Greg Oden. The Buckeyes should be the team to beat in the Big Ten. 5. UCLA Ben Howland is happy Arron Afflalo returned to school. The Bruins are the best in the West. 6. Pittsburgh Jamie Dixon loses guard Carl Krauser but returns Aaron Gray in the middle. 7. LSU Glen Davis decided to stay in school so John Brady has a tough SEC challenger. 8. Georgetown John Thompson III has done a nice job and he has talent up front in Roy Hibbert and Jeff Green. 9. Alabama Ronald Steele is one of the premier point guards in America. 10. Duke Look for big things from Josh McRoberts as he moves into a more natural position up front. 11. Wisconsin 12. Marquette 13. Boston College 14. Arizona 15. Connecticut 16. Villanova 17. I hate this East Coast bias crap, no way in hell Zona deserves to be that low with all the talent they're returning. They're bring back a hell of a lot more than LSU, Boston College, and Marquette.

UCLA, Gonzaga, and San Diego State are all higher than they should be. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The Dickie V and ACC and UNC lovefest continues.</div> Since when does Dickie V has a UNC lovefest? It's Duke you're thinking of. Half or more of America had North Carolina as their preseason #1, and a large majority (myself included) has Kansas #1. It's not radical to have a team other than Florida #1 in the preseason, but that's an old argument better left at rest. Anyway, I think his rankings are alright. He really doesn't have half as much knowledge of the game as people give him credit for. He's just a familiar face and an overwhelming personality, so he's gotten a lot of undeserving fame, but I doubt anyone puts too much stock into his preseason rankings. Here are the teams I think he has too high and the ones I think he has too low. Too High: UCLA, Marquette, Connecticut, Villanova, Memphis, Texas, Oklahoma State, Wichita State, Arkansas, and South Carolina Too Low: Wisconsin, Arizona, Texas A&M, Georgia Tech, Nevada, Virginia, Oregon, and Virginia Tech
Ya, he acts like he's on something everytime you see him. I think he was high when he did this Top 40 poll
lmao Dicky V is something esle Arizone should IMO be top 10 With Mustafa,Marcus,Juwann,Ivan, and New commer Chase (Could be top 3 pick in like 2 years)The Wildcats are loaded Texas IMO will move up by mid season a little hit too (With AJ Abrams and Kevin Durant (could be a 6'10 Guard wow)

He was really high about UNC in 05 when they won the championship. He likes Duke more, but UNC is up there in his top 3-4. Like I said in a thread before, I hope they don't rank us #1. That's the one thing that teams won't want to see is the Gators playing with a chip on their shoulder AGAIN.
I can't wait to see what Georgetown has to offer this year. I was at the game against St. Johns and Roy Hibbert looked unstoppable. They may have lost Brandon Bowman, but they'll manage.
All you guys stop hating on UNC. UNC is going to extremly well this season. Post championship year <u>4</u> Starters were drafted into the NBA. And they still managed to make it to the NCAA torunament and get a couple of wins, lead by freshman senstation Tyler Hansborough. This season canonly get better. The team was beginning to gel together nicely towards the end of last season, and should only get better with new recruits that Roy WIlliams is excellent at.

I was just saying that they shouldn't be #1 when their players haven't proven anything yet. Trust me, I've heard that more than anything else. Everyone knows that UNC lost 97% of their scoring or something ridiculous like that last year. With the way UNC recruits, that shouldn't surprise anyone that they did that. Florida was the exact same way, we lost 67% of our scoring(Walsh, Roberson, Lee), but still won a national championship. People were acting like we were supposed to be this good. No one had us ranked at the beginning of the year and I'm sure UNC was ranked because of their name. Billy D shoulda gotten coach of the year over Roy Williams. I'm not hating, I'm sure they'll be fine, but when you have to count on a bunch of freshman, that's where it can go wrong(for example, look at UNC's tournament loss to GMU relying on freshman). I just hate it when a team is billed to do so well because of a great freshman class, who hasn't proven anything yet and that they pass the Kansas's and Florida's, whose players have already proven that they can play at a high level throughout a season and it's not like those players have topped out, they are constantly improving. My concern is that some of the UNC recruits will be playing for their draft status, since they would have skipped college if they could have and that could ruin team chemistry(I'm not saying that it will happen, but it could, since no one has ever seen so many top players from one class playing together at 1 school) I guess people are forgetting that the defending National Champions are returning their first 7(starting 5, plus 2 best bench players) rotation players with a solid recruiting class(not at the level of UNC, but still a solid class). We only used a 9 man rotation last year, we should use at least a 10-11 man rotation this year. Not to mention Kansas's 3 best players are going from freshman to sophomore year which normally is the jump that shows the most improvement.
